Not Announcing Pregnancy
Not Announcing Pregnancy
My mil is really upset with myself and DH for not wanting to announce that we are having our second child on Facebook or make phone calls to family members (that we hardly ever see/talk to). We never did with our first, we just told people who needed to know and announced her arrival when we were ready. Are we in the wrong? I don't see why it's a big deal

I tell the people who matter to me and that's it. Once it's out of the bag I can't control who finds out from there and I am okay with that! If she feels it's important to tell someone, let her! She's just happy!

I have no issues with her telling people, we just don't want it on Facebook

We do not announce on fb. Nor do we call everyone to tell. They will find out soon enough and it is kind of a fun surprise when you announce that a baby was born and people had no idea you are expecting! Of course we don't keep it a secret if someone sees me pregnant I won't deny?. Congratulations on your baby

It's your prerogative to do whatever you want. Not her choice

My SO feels the same way. He doesn't care to announce to everyone. As time goes on I am thinking we may just announce the birth.

Our parents really want us to announce, we're just not feeling it. We like being in control (ish) of who knows. Idk it makes it special to us.

It's your body and baby. You do what makes you comfortable. I enjoy telling people in person. Doing it on Facebook would feel like not getting to see people open Christmas presents. . .

I never told a soul apart from my sister with my first (and obviously my husband). Not even my brother as we were planning a big announcement for AGES and kept putting it off all the time. Then before we knew it I was 34 weeks and he decided to make an early appearance! So EVERYONE found out 2-3 weeks after he was born as I was in hospital for 3 weeks after birth and did not have my phone or internet connection. Everyone was so surprised but do you know what....I LOVED IT!! No nosey people around, no headaches, no judgemental people.
With my second people kept on thinking they knew best and tried giving me their advice which was actually quite annoying lol.
Now, with this one I was so excited to announce and I did this week, then had an aunt crush me by commenting, "wow, another!"
Yeah... Don't announce ?

My mil was the same. So pushy. I couldn't believe it. She bullied me into announcing earlier than I planned st 13 weeks. Because she was angry she couldn't tell friends or post on fb about it. So selfish if you ask me. Instead of waiting until I felt safe to tell others... in the end it was fine to announce and prob good for me because so many friends showed support (and a few close friends completely ignored which hurt) but that extra pressure ruined it a bit. Parents can actually be way more pushy.

I'm not announcing and it's our 3rd. Just don't feel like it. We did tell the people that mattered.

Mine is the same way! I don't know when FB became the tool to announce anything if we don't want to! I have 2 girls and I remember I didn't tell anybody until it was almost delivery time ! Stay strong and they have to respect your decision! Only a couple of people know I'm pregnant because they are part of my day to day life !
