From what I can see, before she can try and take him to court there are certain criteria that need to be met... being together for 2 years is one of them, so it sounds like he has nothing to worry about:)

Get him to look up "lawaccess.com.au" and select his state and it will give the legal definition of defacto and entitlements when seperating specific to the state.
Also alternatively he can call law access and ask specific questions to his circumstance. It's free.

tell him to get out now before 6 months cohabitation and start keeping records of threats etc
