Wedding before or after baby??

Wedding before or after baby??

My partner and I were planning on getting married in May next year but hadn't got engaged yet.

My partner and I aren't married, we had a few friends and family ask if we would have a small wedding or go to BDM and do it while I was pregnant, and we said no, we want to do it on our terms when we are ready. We don't really care if we have 6 kids (not literally) before we get married, or had non at all.

Our son is now 18mths old, and we talk about it, but haven't planned anything. We also both agree that having our kids as part of our wedding day, would only make it all that much more special for us.

I also don't see anything wrong with getting married while you are pregnant if you have already set a date and been planning it for some time before you got pregnant, and doing it has nothing to with "well I'm pregnant so we have to get married".

I got married when I was about 9 weeks pregnant. Planned wedding, surprise baby! Do what feels right for you both. If you're not in a rush, have the wedding after the baby as planned.

Have you been pregnant before? Do you get very sick? Personally id wait, but generally pregnancy is a hugely stressful time for me with illness and complications.

If I had easier pregnancies I'd probably do it before.

It's a tricky one because there are pros and cons to both. :-)

I'm having my wedding once all my kids are here my dd will be almost 3 and my ds will be 13 months :)

Either whilst pregnant or once bub is here is lovely, but personally I think it's awesome having picks with your kids at your wedding :)

Our wedding was planned for September 2013 and in May 2013 we found out we were pregnant - due Jan 2014. We pulled everything forward and had our wedding 6 weeks later (July). It was NOT an easy task, and thank god I already had my dress and it still fit... But it was absolutely worth it and I'm glad we did it then

Then that's your personal choice.

I only expressed my personal view on it, everyone is different, there is no need to get your nickers in a knot over personal views.

Get married after. That way your little one can be a part of it all and be in your wedding pics.

we got married between kids hahaha. My daughter was 3 when we got married and nearly 2 years later had another bub.

Both kids have their fathers last name and I knew I'd have his name eventually so I was in no rush have it before kids came along.

It made it special for me because he proposed to me with our daughter in his arms. It was cute.

But that's me and my story, as for your situation, I think it's a matter of what's more important to you. If being married before bub arrives is important, then bring it forward. If it's not and you're happy to wait and have bub in the wedding instead, then wait :)

I was 6 months pregnant at my wedding.

My dad had taken sick and didn't have long left ..... He wanted to walk me down the aisle :)

I never wanted to get married as I was so fearful of divorce ..... But I got married for him :)

Needless to say I hated it being pregnant I looked sooo fat and bloated.

Oh and that was 14 years ago now and dad's still alive and I'm divorced hahaha

We got married when our baby was around 18 months. I had a horrible pregnancy so there was no way I wanted to get married then. I also personally didn't want to get married whilst looking very chubby (I definatley wasn't a glowing pregnant person!) and I wanted to be able to have a drink at my wedding.

However it depends what is important to you.

Also if you decide to do it after your baby is born it might be worth giving yourself a bit of time before you do the wedding. Having a newborn is stressful and so is planning a wedding.

I think we will leave it til after the baby is born. I'm just a bit upset as I we have been planning it for a while and now I'm pregnant I'm not sure when it will happen. But I don't want to rush it, hopefully we will move it back to October or something.

Thanks for all your advice!!

I was planning my wedding for the end of next year but think I fell pregnant the week of my engagement party lol so we decided a big wedding wasnt for us and I just wanted the same last name as my future family so we will be getting married at a registry office in 4 weeks (ill be 17 weeks) and having a dinner for about 50 close family and friends the next day :) I found a nice empire dress, will save money not drinking alcohol and have made it a lunch so kids and less drinking are encouraged :P
