Baby shower
So this is my first bio child (I have a wonderful SS who's five). And I really really want a baby shower. And people keep on asking me about it. At least 6-10 people have asked me when it is and if they're invited. (I'm 19 weeks) Actually, people have been asking my DH too!

Throw your own!!

Sure, throw your own. It sounds like if everyone is asking then there are people who want to support you and celebrate the baby.
I'm sorry your mother isn't being supportive.

There's nothing wrong with throwing your own. ?

Go for it. Sometimes I think it can be tacky to throw your own but in your case not at all!! You deserve it!! I'm sorry your mom isn't being supportive for you but you must have a shower for your first born!!!

Thank you so much ladies. My extended family and my friends love me and my DH. And my DH is actually excited about planning one with me, isn't that adorable? He asked me about decorations/theme yesterday... I didn't answer because I wanted to make sure no one would judge me first. ?
Yay! Now I can get excited.

I'd throw my own! Why not!

I agree throw your own! Every baby deserves to be celebrated!

There are times throwing your own shower is tacky but as Pp said, and I 100% agree, this is NOT tacky at all. I think it's wonderful that people want to celebrate new life and you guys have the right to be excited and share that excitement with others.
I'm very sorry about the way your mom is acting though. That's a hard one.

I agree with everyone, throw your own :)

I'd throw my own! Especially if people want you to have one.

Noone stepped up to throw me a shower so my husband did. We planned everything together though but he paid for it. I don't see anything wrong with it, is not like ppl will ask you who planned it, unless they're really nosy. If they ask just say your husband did.

Just wondering if any of those ppl who asked you offered to throw you one or would offer if they knew you weren't having one? Nothing wrong with throwing your own, but I've had a shower thrown by friends who offered when I wasn't near family.

I think they assume my mom will do it? I know several of my cousins have already started asking her when she's doing it, etc.
I'm sure they would offer if I explained my mom isn't willing to do it.. But that would be embarrassing to me. And to my mom.
