I've had a negative pap before I was pregnant. They do something called a colposcopy were they take a small sample of your cervix (the size of a grain of rice) and send it off to be looked at closer to rule out any cancer cells. It's just a precautionary! Don't worry and just breathe! Most abnormal cells clear up on their own like mine did, and I've had regular paps ever since (:

I have also had a pap come back abnormal, they had me do a repeat pap and it came back fine. They told me that a change in sexual partners within a year can cause abnormal results as well as pregnancy causing changes in the cervix.

I had an irregular pap 5 years ago and they took a sample of the cells. I had to go in every 6 months until I had a regular pap and my very next one was regular and I've been regular ever since.

I had an irregular pap and ended up with precancerous cells. I had outpatient surgery to remove the cells and then had to have paps every 3 months for a year and then every 6 months for a year and then back to annually. I've had no problems since.

Yea. I was scheduled for a colposcopy, and then found out I was pregnant, so they didn't want to play with my cervix. After I had my DD, the cells were gone. I got another irregular and the beginning of this pregnancy, and they said they just want to do another pap at 6w pp to check and make sure they go away too. I didn't have a lot, and they weren't too bad looking either. So I'm really not worrying about it.

I had an abnormal pap and then a repeat pap that also came back abnormal. Like you I was freaked out. I had a colposcopy done where they take a biopsy of your cervix to check for cancerous cells. That came back normal. This was about 7 years ago and I haven't had an abnormal pap since. I know it's scary, but it is actually quite common to have an abnormal pap. I'm sure everything is fine!

@lovingmy4boys Oh if a change in sexual partners causes it, that explains things. I separated from my husband (boyfriend at the time) for a few months and I was a baaaadddd girl. Oh my. Glad I'm over that!

I have one scheduled for the 21st. Very nervous too. I even questioned my dr on whether she really thought it necessary. They should not be taking a biopsy while you're pregnant. (This is what I'm told by my doc)

I haven't said anything to my family yet because I don't want them to worry, so it's been extra stressful keeping it in. Husband thinks everything will be fine, but what do men know lol ?
