How many oz of milk per feeding?
Mommies, i need to go back to work in a few days. I have been EBF with one bottle a day. Now lo will need to be on bottles while I am at work. Could you tell me how many oz per feeding he needs per feeding? He is 11 weeks old.
I ebf. I send 4 bottles with 4oz each. My son is 15lbs and 14 weeks old now. His pediatrician said never give more than 4oz a feeding if breastfeeding. I also sent a frozen 5oz in case. Baby should not have over 32oz in 24hrs. Signs of obesity later in life from what the dr had said and no less than 19oz I work from 8-5 daily.
I have been EBF. today i pumped 3 times, 2:45,5:45 and 8:45. But each time the volume of milk i pumped came down. Is that how it will be if i pump and reduce nursing?
It’s based more on weight - the recommendation is usually 2-2.5 oz per lb. our LO is 12 weeks, weighs 15 lbs and eats 30-36 oz/day (4-6 oz every 3 hours + dream feed) But he was regularly getting close to 30 when he was 6 weeks and 11 lbs so it’s not super black and white but is a helpful starting point!
I went back last Thursday! I work from 7-330, and I was unsure the first day so I left 4oz bottles for every 2 hours. I was way off though because he only drank 2-2.5 ounces every 2 hours. Now I leave 3 ounce bottles for every 2 hours even though he only drinks about 2 I like there to be extra just in case. But as PP mentioned I would make about 4 oz bottles the first day and then go from there. I also pump as much as I leave him for him while I'm at work! (Even though he doesn't drink it all)
Oh and he is 12 weeks!
Thank you mommas for all the info!
