Was it easy being plus sized and conceiving?
Was it easy being plus sized and conceiving?
I am 5'3" and weigh 165lbs. So I am now officially obese. Did you mommies have trouble conceiving? I have a DS and TTC#2. My doc has told me to lose weight and I have now tried for 3 months TTC with no success.

I don't think being plus size has anything to do with ease of TTC. A friend of mine who is 135 and very fit and healthy was TTC for 3 years and was on pill/treatments and seeing a specialist when she finally got pregnant. My husband and I got pregnant by accident when we didn't use protection while switching birth control medicines. I'm 245 and am obese.

Makes me feel so much better! I was so scared that my weight is what is preventing me from getting pregnant!

I'm 5'3 and weighed 245 when ttc. I'm 15wks pg. I have hypothyroidism so as soon as I was on the right meds and my hormones weren't out of whack I got pg.

Time to get my thyroid retested!

I don't believe weight matters I'm 300+ and got pregnant on accident this time. A normal healthy couple should try for 1 year before they consider there being a problem

Weight effects everyone different. I'm over 300 and do not have a problem getting pregnant.
Also 3 months is a very very short time. 6-12 is normal for a healthy couple. Each cycle if you have sex at the exact right day you have a 30% chance of getting pregnant.

It took 9 months with my first I was 200 during that time. Took 20 months for our second. We knew the second time would be harder and take longer due to having been on the depo shot for 3 years. Which they say 12-18 months to regulate and conceive. Everyone is different. I think your diet also has a lot to do with it (not weight but what you eat) doctors say loosing weight helps because it shocks your body into something new. The best advice I have is don't want or stress about it. I was like all baby mode let's get pregnant with my first! And when I just stopped trying so hard bam pregnant. The second time around we did ovulate tests when my period came back and was more regular to understand the best time. We didn't stress we wanted to just let it happen. And eventually it did.

I don't think it is weight alone. I think other things like poly cystic ovaries, hormone imbalances, poor nutrition et cetera that cause issues getting pregnant. And both thin and fat women can have these issues. Doctors always make fatness the reason for every problem a person has, and sure there are conditions you may be more likely to develop if you are fat but it is not the weight specifically that is the issue all the time. I was 305 when I got pregnant and got pregnant the 3rd cycle trying and have low blood pressure and all seems well. Whereas a friend of mine took 6-9 months to conceive all her 3 girls and she's thin and eats really healthy. It really is different for everyone and no one should be looked at as only their weight, they should be looked at for the whole health picture.

I am 5'3 and was 155lbs when I got pregnant with my son. It took us 9 months to get pregnant with him. Accidentally Got pregnant 7 weeks post-partum with our girl and weighed 170lbs and this pregnancy I started at 180lbs and got pregnant in 2 months. Everyone's bodies are different I don't believe weight is always a factor. Don't stress about it, I think the stress makes it harder!

I'm 4'7 and was 132lbs (slightly under "obese" range) when I conceived my son. My husband has fertility issues so we tried for a long time with no luck, but we conceived on the 2nd try using donor sperm. I am 135lbs now ("obese") and we're trying for #2 this month! Hopefully we'll conceive easily this time too.
A lot of plus size ladies have no issues getting pregnant. However, some women have underlying medical problems that can cause weight gain AND fertility issues, so it's not the weight itself causing the problem.

I don't think it makes much difference to be honest. I'm classified as obese ? and we got pregnant on the second cycle since trying, and thought it would take ages, because a lot people say it does- even skinny, average size people.
I do honestly think taking the pressure off helps things. We decided to " try but not try" so basically stop using protection and see what happens. I didn't want to be upset every period or only use sex as a baby making tool, or only want sex when ovulating. If there is medically no reason you should have trouble conceiving, I say just relax and have fun....good luck ?

I'm 5'6" and 255 this is my 3rd child and the heaviest I've been for getting pregnant. We tried once and it happened right away so it depends mostly on the person

I'm 5'4 and weighed 200lbs when I got pregnant. I stopped taking the pill in October and got pregnant in November. I think weight doesn't have much to do with it.
