1st ultrasound -which kind
I’m wondering ladies! My first ultrasound when I was pregnant with my first was done at 6 weeks and it was a vaginal ultrasound. My second (current) pregnancy my first ultrasound they scheduled I will be 8 weeks so I’m wondering if they would do a vaginal or they can do a regular tummy one??? What kind of ultrasound did you ladies get for your first?

By 8 weeks they will definitely try to just do abdominal, but if dating is off or they are having difficulty for some reason they’ll switch to vaginal.

In my office you have a vaginal until the 2nd trimester then it's abdominal

With my first I was able to have abdominal at my first ultrasound only I didn't hold my bladder long enough and it wasn't full. (less than 7 weeks) They told me to go to the bathroom let it all out and when I came back I had a transvaginal. I would have been able to go with abdominal if my bladder would have been full.

With my first they did an abdominal US. I was supposed to be around 8 weeks but got pushed back like 4-5 days so I was actually 7 weeks something days and you could still see the baby and hear the heartbeat. I would think they’d try abdominal and only go to TV US if they’re having trouble getting a clear picture for measurements and such.

First pregnancy, only got a 20w abdominal one. Second pregnancy, at 7w transvaginal and 20w abdominal. Third pregnancy, 13w abdominal and 20w abdominal.
