So for the last few days I have been having what I think are contractions they feel like cramps that feel like tightening in my lower stomach and back. They are irregular. I'm pretty sure baby has dropped can that cause this? Or is it just a normal part of pregnancy? Does this sound like Braxton hicks?

Sounds like BH. I wouldn't stress it unless they get stronger and more frequent and regular.

My doctor told me it's a mix of baby being so low and BH, I've been having them on and off since about 35 weeks but now that I'm 37, the past couple of days they get so bad i cry but I also figured out it helps me alot and you could try to drink more water!
