I would worry about having something like that on a newborn for periods of time. Would it affect how the hearing develops? Could it slip down on the face?

Things to consider if you choose to go that route but honestly, I think it’s one of the reasons ds can sleep through anything. ??‍♀️?

Yeah, that’s also a possibility. That’s why moms have to be careful with the headbands for little girls too.

I wouldn’t worry about soundproofing or anything, it’ll be okay. When the trains came through, you had to yell to talk. But it never really bothered ds so I think it’ll be fine.

I have two very loud parrots. I worried they would wake my first son up but both my sons sleep right through them. Your baby is already hearing the train now its just muffled so they might actually be used to it. New borns can sleep through a lot of noise so I wouldnt worry.

I read somewhere that inside the womb it sounds like a constant vacuum cleaner so newborns are used to some amount of noise already. I don't think you need to sound proof but buying a sound machine would probably be a good idea. If it's constantly going during nap time and bed time, it will help muffle the sound of the train or any other unexpected noises. A sound machine helped save our sanity because LO is such a light sleeper and it would even calm him in the car or while we were out (we downloaded apps on all our phones. LOL). He's 2 and we still use it and we will get another one for #2s room.

I wouldn't get ear muffs for your little one. Just get a good white noise machine. You'll find you're more bothered by it then your newborn will be

I'm thinking I'll just have to play it by ear and see what works for my LO, after looking at alllll the earmuffs advertised everywhere they just look uncomfortable... and if the train noise ends up not being bothersome to her then they would be a waste of money ?

I dropped a big pan in the kitchen accidentally when my oldest was a newborn. He didn't even flinch lol. He doesn't have any hearing problems either. I second the white noise machine idea! We just use our tablet to play an app that has a good mix of sounds.

You'd be surprised by what newborns can sleep through. Like you said, I'd play it by ear first, it may not be an issue at all.

I wouldn't get anything like that but you may want to try and get like soothing music or something and crank it up decently.

Yes I say get a white noise machine! We live super close to a railroad (less then a block away) it’s never bothered my other 2 little ones so I’m not too worried about it bothering this one. But a white noise machine would help hide the train a little. Plus babies love them anyway since that’s what the womb sounds like inside I hear.
