I was at work today (I'm a seamstress) and accidentally stabbed my palm with a seam ripper well I went to the ER and they prescribed me antibiotics as well as treating me, hours later the hospital called me to tell me don't take the prescription prescribed to you because we got yours mixed up with another patients and the ones prescribed for you can hurt your pregnancy, well thank GOD I had not filled the prescription yet, but what if they had not caught the mistake? It scares me to think about, that these things can happen ???

Ooh that happened to me I was in a car accident and the urgent care dr prescribed me a muscle relaxer for my soreness . My husband took it to our regular pharmacy and the pharmacist caught it as a dangerous mix with the thyroid meds I take daily. I was so upset with the urgent care dr. I told them what meds I take daily I feel like he should have known that it would not mix. Thank god the pharmacist caught it!

It's actually the pharmacist's job to catch those errors & dangerous combinations. They're far more knowledgeable about those things than doctors. That's why they go through so much schooling & get paid so well. Any old dope can put a certain number of pills in a bottle and slap a label on them. I alway ask my pharmacist if my prescription is safe for pregnancy or breastfeeding. I'll even ask about over the counter stuff.

I wasn't pregnant at the time but had to go to a walk in clinic bc it was after hours and i was very sick. I had been there before and had a chart. The doctor double checked with me that i was allergic to a certain medicine before he wrote my script. I was prescribed an antibiotic among some other things. I got out to my car and had called my mom bc i missed a call from her while in the office. While i was sitting there i get an incoming call from the dr's office i had just been in. They informed me i needed to immediately come back in bc the dr actually wrote my script for the exact medicine i was allergic to!!! I hadn't even looked at my scripts when he handed them to me. It was just crazy bc he even mentioned my allergy to me while being there before he wrote it.

I always google anything I pick up at the pharmacy to read side effects/everything it treats but that's just cause I'm super neurotic ?

When I was pregnant, I had exceptional swelling in my right foot, so I went to a walk-in doctor to make sure i didn't break it or anything. He prescribed an anti-inflammatory that causes both preterm labour, and can damage the placenta. I filled the script, but did research before taking it. I wish I didn't fill the stupid script though, I got asked about it 10 times while in labour.
