What counts as a "bad scare"? My son gets startled at loud noises often and will get startled even when he's on the boob. Never heard this one. Following to see if anyone has.

Maybe she means it will teach him to need the boob for comfort whenever he gets scared? I wouldn't worry about it.

- angry

- sad

Basically anything other than happy because the baby feels it.

My husband and I are both 2nd gen immigrants and our families both have beliefs that scientifically make no sense- but they swear by them as they are beliefs that have been passed down for centuries. My mil told me if I raise my hands above my head, I'll strangle my baby by its umbilical cord. The first time she said it I laughed so hard bc I thought she was making it up. Once I realized that she was dead serious things got awkward. My mom tells me that my baby will get birthmarks if I don't eat everything I crave during pregnancy. Weird beliefs but we know that science doesn't back them up so just do what you know is best!
