I'm sitting here in l&d cause I have been contracting they have me hooked up to a monitor and my sons heart rate goes from 120 bpm to 203bpm when I asked the nurse said as long as its not below 116 and not above 180 it's alright? So why are they not freaking out when it get up to 203? Anyone else experience this? Cause I'm pretty irritated

I was just in and idk the exact HR but my.sons heart was poundinggg and they said he was "experiencing an accelleration" and that they like to see that in babies. Its a developmental thing. I asked my OB and she said its a good thing as well, but again, idk the exact heartrate

My daughters did that when I was in labor with her. They said it was because when you contract your body is squeezing the baby and when it releases the baby's heart rate accelerates because of it. Not sure how high is ok or not but definitely ask the doc when you see them.

Accelerations can be concerning but it's really deceleration especially with contractions that give an indication that something is wrong. Try not to stress!
