Omg look at him doing big boy things! It would have been awesome to see his reaction. It's great that he wanted more, he has a good appetite. Hopefully he'll continue to be a good eater when he's older and like to try all kinds of food. He has such a good mommy! I just bought oatmeal cereal, a baby food maker and some organic veggies. She hasn't tried anything yet. I'm going to start making her purees and freezing them. I want to start her soon because she's so interested in everyone's food but I'm hesitant!

Jroc he's close enough. He will be 4 months on the 2nd. He's 17 weeks. He's just getting hungrier and hungrier and he's super interested in what I'm eating and if he's in my lap he will lean down towards my plate. I let him try a little green bean juice off my finger and he was all about it. So I knew he was ready. I went off his cues. He also has excellent head control. Our pediatrician said 4 months anyway.

@lovemysweetbaby thank you! And it's totally up to you when you want to give your baby solids. I've done plenty of research and I can probably counter any argument someone brings against me on it. But I still support everyone's decision on how to parent as long as baby is healthy and happy, it's whatever you and baby are comfortable with!

@shainaboop i agree your lil one will let you know when they're ready. Hunter has been on solids since he was 3 months he will be 4 months on the 6th. His doc also said if he eats more than 32oz in a 24hr period he is probably ready so i tried and he loves it.

So funny how recommendations are different world wide. UK is 6 months, no ifs and buts according to the info I was given the other day. Yet they follow the guidance of WHO the same as America. Just shows nothing is really 100% set! He's a gorgeous boy who looks like he was enjoying it.

Yes, I went off her cues too. Every time we would be eating she would just stare at us all the time ! I felt so bad so I finally caved in and gave her something and she loved it . I puréed carrots for her the next day and she was chomping away lol she would scream when I wasn't fast enough and would literally pull the spoon to her mouth,I was so shocked . But of course my lactation counselor was like she's fine with just milk if you feed her before 6 months she's going to be obese -.-

So adorable! I can't wait to start but I wonder why my ped said 6 months any way all my other babies started at 4 months or so.

We just tried bananas tonight. And it was so funny to watch her face.

Well no more oatmeal cereal for us for now. It caused a little rash on his cheeks that's going away but I think he has a mild allergy to it... possibly the fish oil from the DHA in the cereal though idk. I should have got cereal without the DHA in it but I wasn't thinking. We will just move on to simple puréed veggies/fruits so I can isolate ingredients better.

Hunter didn't do well with oatmeal and didnt like the plan rice it constipated him bad but he does very well woth the apple banana cereal

I gave Blakeleigh some yogurt a few times when my oldercdaughter was eating it and she loved it. She cried when I stopped feeding her. I only gave it to her twice. I'm waiting till after her four month appointment even though she's ready. Since I'm feeding her exclusively from the breast and I feel like she's feeding non-stop I can't wait to have a break. I only ever pumped once when she was born so she only had a bottle for one feeding when I went to my son's graduation.

Field tried just a tbsp of cereal in breast milk the last two days and will do a little more today. Did it give Caellum gas? Field is gassy!

Slopez3, it didn't give him gas but it made him throw up and he had a mild rash on his cheeks (it went away). The pedi doesn't think it's an allergy but he did fine with sweet potatoes and bananas so idk.
