Traveling and formula feeding
Traveling and formula feeding
How have you moms done it in the past for long car rides? Need tips to make it easier. I wanted to make bottles and put them in a cooler full of ice but everything I'm reading says only put them in a cooler with an ice pack for 4 hours and the trip is over 10 hours with all the stops.

Just make the bottles as u need them so u won't have to put them in the cooler. Or u can see if the milk u use has a ready to feed bottle. Good luck.

I just use ready to serve formula in the small 2oz bottles. This way I just open them when needed and serve it right away.

JennyTh, I use Similac pro-sensitive and they don't come in the nursettes unless you order them online and I didn't think far ahead enough to do that :/. I wish they had them though, I considered getting some pro-advance ones but worried it would tear up his tummy.

I pre make bottles with 4oz of nursery water (no formula), I do at least 3. And then I use this little plastic container that has 3 divisions--this came with an Avent set of bottles I was gifted, not sure what it's called-- and pre fill the formula powder (2 scoops each for the 4oz bottles I prefill). If the trip is really long I would prefill a few bottles with the water and bring a sandwich size ziplock bag with the formula powder and scoop inside. I always give my baby room temperature milk so he's not picky about it being warmed or anything.

Shaina - go on Facebook marketplace. People are either selling their for cheap or even giving their sample away for free.
We got that way few cans of formula when still figuring out which one Madeline likes most.
It's better than craigslist because you can have quick look at their profile.
And I do this every night. I put 3oz of water in two bottles for Maddie at my nightstand and have the little container with 1.5 scoop of formula in each compartment and just combine them when she needs it. Small ziploc bags or tiny Tupperware will work for a trip too.

Just pre make the bottles with water, then all you have to do is add the scoops of formula to them.
