I found just comforting them the day off is all they need. Mine would get a little feverish but not enough for Tylenol by every baby is different

I've never needed to give Tylenol. I just find them to be super sleepy the rest of the day. I wouldn't do it before just because I try to avoid medication as much as possible, so I would only want to give it after if absolutely necessary. Hope it goes good for both of you. He will cry but it'll be over super quick and the crying will stop quickly too.

Prophylactic Tylenol shouldn't be given with vaccination. It diminishes antibody production.

Tylenol should only be given if fever warrants it.

Doc told me not to use until needed afterwards. No fever for Riley at 2 month shots but you could tell he was in pain the rest of the day and by evening he was extremely fussy and couldn't sleep. That's when I gave some. He was fine the next day.

My sister in law told me to give them to my son before his vaccinations. She didn't give it to her first daughter before her shots and she cried and was fussy for days after. But for her other 3 kids she gave the Tylenol 30 minutes before the appointment and they stayed sleepy and content the whole time and weren't fussy at all after.

I gave Adan Tylenol right after his shots. It helped him sleep for a few hours. We continued to give it to him because he did have a fever the day he got his shots and the following day as well.

They gave Tylenol 3 times within the 24 hours of vaccination and it reduced antibody response... which kind of goes against the purpose of vaccinating.

Have it handy in case he develops a fever afterward. But even then, i used it sparingly with my first born. I just used a cold compress on his head (very mild fever, wasn't fussy at all), he did just fine. Good luck, its often worse for the parents than the baby.

We are told in school to not encourage the paracetamol before or after shots.

It's the bodies normal response. Unless the fever gets high.

Thanks ladies! I was going to call and ask the pediatrician tomorrow before I gave him anything anyway but I will just hold off. Hopefully he won't need it after either. I think I will definitely cry more than him. I already wanna cry.

Yea I would only give tylenol if he starts getting a fever, a bath after the shots can help, I hate shots Matias has his on Monday and I am so glad hubby has the day off to hold him (he held our daughter too) I am a cry baby when it comes to shots lol

My little guy will be getting his shots tomorrow as well, which is the day he'll be two months old. My husband is home with us this week so I'm glad I won't have to be alone with my little man. We did all of our shopping (groceries and other necessities) yesterday and today so that we can both be 100% available for or little man for the rest of the week just in case. I expect him to get a fever (I still do after every shot at 38 years old!) and are seing our doctor on thursday for baby's two month checkup which is great and reassuring for us.

Well I was planning on driving to Alabama on Thursday so I'm hoping he feels better! If he doesn't I will just put off the trip.

I didn't give it to adelynn today before her shots and her pediatrician told me to give it to her right after and I wasn't able to go straight home and he's been so fussy and I can tell not feeling well i wish I had given it to her before! Or right after.

Just a handy little tip, for soreness right after the shot is given run the baby Vicks vaporub generously over the area and then for the next couple hours after. I used it with my first after every shot, it works like a charm for soreness. She never had an issue with moving her leg.

Our pediatrician used to work in pediatric ICU and he doesn't recommend ever using acetaminophen due to the high risk of dosing errors and the severe consequences that can occur with them. He only recommends Motrin when old enough
