Mama's night out
My son is about to be four weeks and it might be kind of soon but I feel like a mama's night out for a few hours is due soon. I'm a single mom with only a few friends in this city (I moved in Jan) so I think it would be good for me to get out. My father will be staying with me for a while so he can watch him but omg I don't even know how to make it work since I'm pumping. Suggestions???? I do give him formula supplements here and there while I'm building my supply up. Like 4 oz daily at most.

I think what worries me the most is having a drink or two. Not necessarily the milk part because if I feel like he can't have it I will just keep it for a milk bath or diaper rash but I'm just worried my tolerance will be low and I'll end up coming home tipsy after just one or two drinks and I don't want to be like that around my baby ?. Especially since sometimes he sleeps in bed with me. But I also would love a drink to relax, I haven't had one yet just a few sips of beer here and there.

You're working your butt off and there's nothing wrong with taking advantage of the extra help. I used to call it "going out," but that's for young folks. Now I call it self care! ☺️
As for drinks, maybe try one full beer at home first to see how you feel. Set a drinking limit for your night out or chase each drink w/ a soda, water or faux cocktail. My max has always been 3-4 but 4 guarantees feeling crappy the next day. I'm a lightweight after kids happened!
It's totally okay to want to enjoy yourself. And what a kick ass mom you are to be thinking so carefully about what's best for your little dude.

You deserve it girl! As for the drinking, our pediatrician and my on both said if I feel sober enough to drive I could breastfeed. So go by that rule I'd say. If you don't feel comfortable to drive but need to pump, just pump enough to relieve pressure and dump. The alcohol filters through milk the same as your blood

Thanks ladies! I think I'll go out for the first time next weekend and he will be 5 weeks. Hopefully I can get ahead in my breastmilk stash by then.

Time it very well.
If he feeds every 3 hrs then leave right after you feed him. Then your dad will feed him 3 hrs later and be back by the time the next feed is due.
That gives you 6 hrs to be adult. :)

I think it's absolutely ok to go out. If you have someone to watch baby why not? Anything that is good for mama ?if you have a few drinks just pump and dump if he is doing ok with the formula he should be fine

Mommies night out is a must! I even went out for a few hours for dinner. It was so nice. You just pump right before you leave. I can go as long as 5 hours tops good luck. One drink gets me tipsy but as soon as I see baby I lose it. Lol
