We went to the doctor today because he has had a really bad diaper rash that doesn't seem to be responding to anything. I just started Boudreaux's butt paste though so the pediatrician wants me to continue that along with making sure his butt gets washed with warm water every time he poops. I'm also making sure he gets air time without a diaper, right now he's doing tummy time with no diaper. Any other tips or tricks? A&D, aquaphor and Desitin didn't seem to work. The pediatrician doesn't think it's his diaper because it's only on his butt.
If all else fails it could be a yeast infection. My 15month old got one when she was a few months old. The doc thought it was just a rash too. But when it didn't go away after using 100 different ointments I did my own research. I tried to cure a yeast infection, coconut oil is amazing!! It cleared up in two days.
My LO also has a terrible diaper rash! I switched from pampers to huggies and it's already getting better. The pampers were just sticking to her butt and not letting it breathe. Along with drying her butt well and letting her sit without a diaper after every change, it has gotten much better. The doctor said she would prescribe a steroid cream though if I couldn't get it to clear up within a couple days.
Breast milk fixes everything! If you can express some fresh and let it settle, the fatty milk that raises to the top works best. I've used it on sunburns as well. My sister in law touched her face after chopping hot peppers and couldn't get it to stop burning. The minute she put breast milk on it, she said it was immediate relief.
I'll have to try the breast milk!
I don't think it's a yeast infection, the pediatrician checked him out today. If he does have one then she sucks lol.
My daughter was very sensitive. I tried everything from over the counter to prescribed by her pedi. One night, I couldn't stand her crying so much every time I changed her diaper. I thawed out some frozen breast milk and using a dropping out it all over her lady bits and bottom. It cleared in less than two days! I had heard about it, but indefinitely proved that it works.
This may sound weird but that happened to my son when he was a few weeks old & his pediatrician told me to put athletes foot cream on the rash. & it worked! Nothing else would even seem to be helping the rash but after a few diaper changes & using the athletes foot cream it went away. It turned out to be a reaction to luvs diapers.
Bwiesen, you're the second person to recommend Triple Paste. Where is it sold?
He was using Huggies and Honest diapers when it started. Just now started trying Pampers sensitive because I thought it might help. I really don't know if it's the diapers. As for wipes, I was using Huggies naturals and is using Pampers sensitive.
My first used to get really bad diaper rashes! Butt paste & destin works wonders! Butt paste literally made it go away over night!!! I also recommend lots of air out time after baths & between diaper changes. I didn't use wipes unless she pooped, just use damp or wet paper towels or wash rag! Also change diaper every 2-3 hrs even if she's not wet.
