This is a reason why I refuse to have one :( a lot of my family that has had one has had long term effects from them.

I didn't want one but things did get really rough on me. I wasn't mentally prepared for an induction in the first place, it all happened so quick. I tried to hold out as long as possible, but once I couldn't move from anywhere but beside my bed and also started vomiting I gave in. But now I know that if I ever get pregnant again I'll prepare for the worst (preeclampsia) and try to figure something else out. Also I'm hoping it's true labor is quicker second time around ??.

Spinal headaches are the worst pain in the world!! I had one of those. That's one one of two reasons why I will not get an epidural. Try not to move around too much. I know easier said than done. I moved around because I had a 3 year old and a newborn and had to stay laying down an entire weekend before they would do it again. And they would do the blood patch until just a couple of hours before I left the hospital. If they would have done it right away I could have rested and not had to have it redone. I am so sorry this happened to you. Heads up all that also made my back really stiff. Had to have a chiropractor loosen it.

I had a VBAC, and I won't get an epic again either, first of all it almost took me out when I laid wrong on it and it cut off blood circulation to my brain which almost resulted in an emergency c again! Second when they turned it back on all it did was numb my left leg so I felt EVERYTHING anyways I basically had an unmediated birth, and the feeling didn't come back to my left leg for twelve hours after they took it out!!!

Well thats just bad luck sounds like u got some people who didnt know what they were doing! My epidural was a life saver and helped me to enjoy my labor/birth so much more. I even got to do my makeup and everything after they gave me mine so I didnt look like a zombie in pictures lol. I wouldn't say never do it again just because u had a bad experience this time doesnt mean it will happen with future children just like every pregnancy is different so is every labor and delivery

My niece had that with her first one. Said as soon as they did the blood patch the headaches stopped immediately. She had no problems at all the second time. Sorry you're in pain. Feel better soon

I've had 3 children, and never had side effects from an epidural. I think I would've passed out without it.

I'm sorry you are going through that. I've had bad reaction from it too after a week or two giving birth, this pain is unbearable it goes through my spine I can't stand I can't sit I can't lay down and I'm throwing up, that's one thing I'm not looking forward to. Oxycodone was the only thing that took the pain away then it comes and goes for months after. Hopefully it's not the same pain for you. Feel better soon so you can enjoy your lo.

That sucks the dr didn't know how to do his job correctly. I had one and didn't feel a thing. And had no complications. I'm sorry. Hopefully u feel better soon

Unfortunately spinal headaches are a possible negative side effect of epidurals. Even when there isn't obvious issue of placing them and, like any other medical procedure, having difficulty doesn't mean the doctor/anesthesiologist didn't "know what they were doing". That's just part of medicine & performing a procedure. ?

I completely agree with you!! I was in L&D last night & I made it to 3 cm after walking...I got an IV in preparation for 4 cm (active labor) & I let them give me pain medicine & all progress stopped ? Ill be finding a way to deal with the pain if my contractions start up 3-4 min apart again

I had one with both bandied and both times I had horrible horrible shakes. Like, I looked like I was freezing cold and had teeth chattering. I couldn't rest, I was in pain from shaking, and it lasted a while after birth. I am convinced that it isn't just the anesthesiologist, it is also how we react to it. Twice is enough to convince me that my body does not like all that medicine. I will again try to avoid getting once since I don't foresee it being any different.

What a horror story! I've had three and they've all been great, the IV hurt more. So ladies, don't be afraid. But there are risks for anything. I've been lucky

Mine went down one side only with my first but I'm definitely getting it again. If I was halfway numb for that ring of fire I will do it again. Luckily I didn't have issues with headache or anything else. I hope you are back to yourself soon.

My friend had spinal fluid leak out from around her brain and it took them a week to fix it. She had to go back into the hospital and it was terrible for her. Hopefully you get fixed up quickly
