I prefer medela personally

I got the spectra after speaking with my sister in law who is a midwife and lactation consultant.

I got the spectra a few days ago free from my insurance. I am so excited and they have really good reviews!

I've heard really great things about the spectra pump.

My friend had a Medela last time & this time went with the spectra. She said she likes the spectra better.

I had the Medela with my first babe and I had no problems with it, however I've heard such good things about the Spectra I'm going to try that one this time!

I'm leaning more towards the Spectra, but I do like the backpack that comes with the Medela haha. But what matters is having whichever pump works the best.

Is that a form you got from Portsmouth Naval? I feel like I have to wait forever lol. It's 36 weeks my doctor said before I can get my pump.

@Shania they make pump bags that are much cuter than the medela bag if that is what is going to sway you haha.

I got mine off Amazon (it was 90 bucks but seriously, the best money I have every spent).

That being said the Medela is what I used for my first and had 0 issues, I ordered the spectra this time around to play with the added adjustment features to see if it would speed up pump time at all.

Agoatley, I go to Dam Neck for my OB appts. They originally told me 36 weeks but my midwife gave me this today so I can start looking at it. She said I can get my pump now, but they recommend 36 week because if I go into labor before I make it to term then Tricare will pay for a hospital grade pump.

Cdquint02, I really don't know! I keep hearing great things about Medela and Spectra. I talked to a couple of ladies at work and they love Medela as well. I guess I need to do more research and see what I feel would work best for me.

I really don't think I could go wrong with Spectra or Medela. I think I am going to actually call or go to the Tidewater Lactation Consultant group and see if I can get some better information on both.

I had ameda last time, liked it okay. After reading reviews and talking to a few nurses I ended up going with the Spectra this time around.

I would also suggest looking around your local stores to see what brand accessories and replacement parts they sell. I live in a small town so I went with MEDELA because our box stores have sections of supplies for that brand and not for spectra. I had the choice between the medela and spectra. I just liked the idea of having access to what I needed without ordering online.

I have a spectra s1 (Same as s2, but has battery) & a medelaPISA. They are both excellent pumps and u got similar output with both. The main difference I noticed was nipple comfort. I have fairly sensitive nipples and preferred the spectra. It is also more "customizable" as it has more settings than the medela. I liked this as I adjusted how I pumped almost everytime. PISA is smaller and comes with that back pack which is convenient though. Spectra is a bit bulky and an odd shape

I ordered the medela but I've never breast fed before and only went off hearing from people it was a good one.

There are replacement parts on Amazon for both pumps too..

I was originally told I had to wait til 36 weeks but got my prescription today at 35, they're having me order off militarymedical.us.com and it says the pumps come w 6 extra bottles, 2 collection kits and 300 storage bags. You can order extra bags for 36 months after the baby is born. I'm leaning towards the spectra S2 but the bag for the Medela is making me do more research lol.

I have the Medela pump, got it through insurance with my daughter and will be using the same one again. I love mine "good luck" seems like spectra is a good one too. So either way you will get a great pump ?

I used the Medela backpack to exclusively pump for a year. Worked great but could tell towards month 11 it was slowing down but since I used it around the clock that long, I consider that great.

CbcM03, that does sound great since you were using it exclusively! I plan on giving the boob too so it should work for a while for me. I might switch to only pumping and of course solids at 6 months-1 year.

I just received the S2 after having several coworkers who either work labor and delivery or are lactation consultants recommend it. I've read good views on that and the Medela so I guess it comes down to personal preference.
