Faux pas
I've been good about what I've been consuming, but I realized I have had a couple of swordfish tacos on Taco Tuesday (they were always small pieces of fish) throughout my pregnancy without really thinking about it. I'm sure the baby is fine and it won't happen again, but I know I can't be the only one who has made a mistake and ate what they're not supposed to. The restrictions drive me crazy ?

I've had cold lunch meat and hot dogs lol

You are fine - it's more to prevent the women to eat it every week and more than one serving! Don't worry about it. I refuse to give up my biwieekly tuna sushi :)
NewMommy·
Sarablaraa, I've been wanting cold turkey sandwiches so bad.
NewMommy·
Patrycjalai, God I miss rainbow rolls! I know a lot of women go for the raw fish anyway, but I've just been making do with California rolls with snow crab and caterpillar rolls. Trying to stick with cooked fish.

I refuse to give up my deli meat!!!

The danger with fish is while pregnant is minimal! It's a staple meat in our household. They are more worried about allergic reactions (bc you're so sensitive) then anything else!
The only thing I give up is cleaning the litter box & alcohol. Lol
NewMommy·
Hayleylwalker, they say avoid fish like swordfish and shark due to the high mercury content. I definitely wouldn't give up fish overall.

I've definitely made mistakes. Ricotta cheese, ate off a buffet... it's so hard

@shainaboop yes! I know.. just meaning my doctor stresses more about the allergy side of it then the mercury. Mind you what I eat in regards to fish is probably farmed which is probably different then fresh caught!

Hot dog, bacon, medium rare steak! You'll be fine!

Woah were not supposed to have bacon? I'm breaking that rule lol
NewMommy·
Lol oh yes, I've definitely been eating a lot of bacon. Even made deviled eggs for Thanksgiving with bacon sprinkled on top lol.

Eating it in smaller quantities is probably the best, food people are crazy with don't eat this whole pregnant blah blah blah * to be honest is a load of bs but hey enjoy your weekly fish. X I eat bacon all the time you can eat it. it's mainly eggs when the yolk isn't cooked thru and raw stuff like red meat I feel for the people who love medium rare steaks hehe and cheeses like Brie n stuff u should
Cut out you will be fine otherwise X

I agree the restrictions and worries can get kind of over the top. I looooove fish and other types of sea food so much. I think a lot of times I definitely go over the two times a week limit. I've especially been craving tuna sandwiches.

Oh boy sushi is my enemy when I am pregnant so I get it. I try to do cooked rolls as much as I can but even once in a while I indulge ?

I've had deli meat when I got sandwiches from subway. I mean sandwiches are a staple for some women who can't keep anything down.. ??I just heat up the meat like they say to kill bacteria. But I couldn't imagine going grouch awhile pregnancy without eating a sandwich..?
NewMommy·
I wonder if a toasted sandwich from Subway would heat up the meat enough. I've gotten a tuna sandwich from there so far and that's it.
NewMommy·
Iliana I've contemplated raw fish a few times when getting sushi but I chicken out lol. There's a place right by my house that does really good snow crab California rolls so I've been getting those.
