breast feeding HELP!

I am so upset :( all I want to do is only breast feed my babygirl! When she was born on the 17th she was 8 pounds even. Today she is only 7.5. I knkw they loose weight but she also has jaundice. So they have me supplementing her with formula too. I'm so worried it will affect my breast milk :( I don't know what to do! What can I do to help my milk come in?!

Stay calm. I had to supplement with my dd when she was born because of her glucose levels and then jaundice. We supplemented for about a month. My milk didn't come in until she was like a week old. She's now almost 14 months and we're still breastfeeding, so just because you have to supplement now doesn't mean you're destined for formula. You can do this!

To help your milk come in just keep putting baby to your breast, the more lo suckles the more it encourages your body to produce milk. When lo is sleeping so skin to skin. And drink LOTS of water.

Good luck momma! ?

My milk did not come in until day 5 pp. I supplemented for a few days. Stay calm, it will come.

I heard the more time you spend skin to skin, and attempting to feed, the faster it comes. :)

Good luck! Don't give up!

Going through the same thing, but his doctor wants me to pump and mix with a higher calorie formula for a week and then she will check his weight again. I just want to nurse my boy, it gets frustrating but the number one priority is that he eats, no matter which route I have to take.

My baby was jaundiced too (to the point they almost didn't let us leave and had to have her tested every day for a week after) , no one ever suggested formula. What was suggested was keeping it warm inside and putting her naked near a sunny window. Sure enough that helped!

My youngest had jaundice really bad when she was a baby. They told me to breastfeed her as much as possible, if she wasn't on the lights they wanted her on the boob. It only took a couple days to get rid of the jaundice.

My son went from 7lbs 8oz down to 6lbs 11oz. My son had jaundice too. Pediatrician never suggested supplementing. After 1 week of warm house, sunlight on naked baby. His jaundice numbers were low enough and decreasing that the pediatrician was no longer concerned.

We later found out that my milk is low in fat content and added 1 2-3oz bottle a day of formula. This only happened because it took my son a month to get back up to birth weight on just my milk. After adding the 2-3 oz of formula per day he finally started gaining 1-2lbs a month.

My son turns 1 year on Monday and is 21lbs and healthy.

Supplementing will hurt it.

I hate that they scare us so so much!

Yes jaundice can be bad, depending on how bad it is.

Babies can safely loose 2lbs and be good as long as the train all or most by 6-8 weeks old.

Jaundiced babies need to drink more hense the reason to breast feed!

Ff babies don't drink as much milk or as often as bf babies do.

Keep putting baby to the breast every 1-2 hours until jaundice is gone.

They need the frequent feeds to flush out all that stuff.
