"I'll never do THAT"
What is something your parents did that you'll never do? Like something small or not really that bad but that you wouldn't do with your kids.

I told myself I'd never be a short order cook and that my kids will eat what I make.
Yea, ds is almost 3 and the pickiest eater known to man. So, I'll make him grilled cheese or pbj for dinner. Thankfully he starts daycare next week and they serve lunch there. I'm hoping it'll help him eat.
Dd eats anything and everything at 10 months old

My mothers motto was "always hide the evidence"..... I thought it was great as a kid! The sneaking around, hiding stuff... Till I realized (later in my teen years) how wrong she was to always hide stuff from my dad, and make me go along with it,.. ?
Safe to say that motto is staying with her lol

My parents used to spank me with two paint sticks taped together ? I will not be doing that.

My parents never sat me down to have "the talk." To this day, they've never mentioned it lol. I'll definitely be talking to my kids about sex. I was very clueless as a young adult.

My parents were not and still aren't emotional people. The last time my dad said he loved me was in 2007. When i told my mom i was pregnant she said congrats and then talked about what my dad did for 45 mins (they are divorced). So i will definitely be there physically and emotionally for my kids. They will know i love them, every day.
Oh and they will know God, my parents never took me to church.

"Just do it" and "because I said so", I believe in explaining things to my son or if he does something wrong making sure he understands why it's not ok. My parents never gave reasons for anything and it drove me crazy. I remember we went out to eat and kids 10 and under ate free. I had turned 11, two days before and when telling the ages of us 5 kids, he said I was 10. Me just being excited about just having my birthday piped in, "I just turned 11!" He back handed me in line and grabbed me by my hair and yanked me outside and said I better shut my mouth and never embarrass him again... The trying to get a free meal out of a child that had just aged out would be something that Id do lol, but I'd probably clue them in first and I'd never get angry if they said anything! My mom was the same way.

@pp
Sounds like he was embarrassing his self. Doing you like that on top of them thinking he forgot your birthday.

Exactly. If it were me, I would have just laughed and said something thing like I'm so sorry, that's what happens when you have so many, all the birthdays start to run together! And then moved on. My parents were always pretty harsh though

My mom never let me stay away from home for long. Even when I was in high school, I was never allowed to stay away from home for more than one night. During the summer time was a nightmare. We would argue all the time because I wanted to stay just one more night, and she would never give me a valid reason as to why I had to come home. Then I wouldn't be allowed to leave (except for school) until a week later. I was miserable at home because I didn't have a car and didn't have anything to do (I lived in the middle of no where). My room was alway clean, I did my chores, I never got into trouble at school or with any of my friends' parents. Needless to say, I moved out shortly after I graduated.

I was pretty much a live in nanny for my dad and step mom. My step mom was young and always wanted to go on vacation and go out every night so I had to stay home with my two little brothers and watch them during the day while they worked and I cleaned our 4200 sqft house all day. Then watch them at night and put them to bed so they could go out. I was 16/17 and my brothers were 6months and 4. I'll never make my oldest take care of her younger sibling (if we have more) or clean the house all day. I wasn't even aloud to be in my room or watch tv until after dinner when everyone was going to bed.

My mom is very passive aggressive. I've learned how to communicate better because of her lol

My parents let us watch scarry movies with them. I hated them and usually played alone in my room so I wouldn't get scared by them. If I watched one or even parts of one I'd have nightmares for weeks after.
No scarry movies in our house!!!
