I've been influenced by you guys!

I asked at mine they told me its a diffrent test. That i would have to get the genetic testing done but inly if my insurance covered it and its i met the over 35 and had a previous baby with downs which i dont. So they wont do it for me i have to wait for my 18-20 wk ultrasound ugh

I'm in Canada too and getting the generic testing done too. Depending on what province you live in depends on the type of genetic test they provide and cover. I would check with your doctor and/or the ultrasound tech. I'm going in on Wednesday for our first ultrasound and the blood work for the genetic testing. My midwife told me that if I didn't want to know the gender I was to let them know when I got there for the technicians to mark it in the notes. My hubby wants to know so we will find out soon enough. Good luck. ☺

My doctor said she hadn't heard about knowing the sex through blood testing. I'll find out through good old ultrasound at my anatomy scan!

My GP told me i could pay for the genetic testing (including gender) instead of the NT scan but it would be out of pocket. He said about 800.

I opted out of it all.

Yep pp, I can wait too. I will not pay to find out 8 weeks early!
