help lol

So today Bear kept climbing out of his cot so I took the side off cuz I was worried he would hurt himself, and put a stair gate on his door but he wouldn't have his nap(he's very tired)... how long does it ruffly take for them to get used to it?(I know each child is different) any tips? I've rolled a towel up and put it under his sheet until I can get a pool noodle(we left our bed guard in Dorset at my FILs house).. I'm hoping he'll be so tired later he'll just go to sleep but I doubt it lol x

He's 22months now Kerry. I would of happily kept him in his cot longer but he started climbing out and I didn't want him hurting himself. If Kylan isn't climbing out of his cot yet maybe wait till he is? We are guna do the same with Kasen(he's 9months old tomorrow) so we've got a while yet x

How old is Bear now Freya? We've been debating switching Kylan's cot to toddler but I'm dreading him not staying in bed! ? he's 20 months now x

At the moment Bear still wants to leave his room but that will probably change lol

He went down to bed really well again today(he didn't nap all day cuz we were out) so hopefully he's enjoying it. I'm glad we've done this now rather than in a couple months cuz he'll be starting nursery in April and I didn't want too many changes happening at once for him x

Thankyou for all the replies.... I'm surprised at how well he did! I heard him messing around for 20mins then it went silent and I thought he'd gone to sleep but he was just laying down with Ewan the sheep on,(we live in a small flat) so when I went to hang up their washing he came amd stood at his gate, then he had a poo so I changed him and put him back in his bed and left his room and he played for maybe 10mins then all went silent again and he actually fell asleep! I put cushions on the floor in case he fell out but he didn't and he slept all night!(just need kasen to sleep all night now lol) . Let's see how it goes tonight!xx

I put my son in a toddler bed at 10 mo this as he could climb out, he slept ten times better in a bed! He's 5 now and still sleeps amazing, my 1 year old on the other hand is a terrible sleeper and hates his cot ?‍♀️ xx

My oldest was an amazing sleeper until we took the sides off his cot, then it all went tits up tbh. He never stayed in his bed, he would mess on with toys rather than go to sleep like he would of done before, he could also climb the baby gate so was downstairs then in our bed.. he’s 5 now and won’t go to bed alone still someone has to be next to him.

I haven’t took the sides off Ella’s yet cause she doesn’t climb it but I’m dreading when she does! X

My son never napped in his bed again after we took the sides off, but went to bed absolutely fine with no problems
