Hi ladies.. do any of you use one? It's my first ever time using it and I'm just wondering a few things...

I got a moon cup about 2 years ago amd haven't looked back. It takes a bit of getting used to but once you know what works for you it's so much easier. When I'm at work during the day I can usually leave it till I get home. Rinse out into he morning, home from work and then at night before bed.

I've found my cramps are better since using it too ?

I have a different technique to getting mine out cause I completely cut the stem off mine I found it too irritating, but I break the seal then pull it out holding the bottom of the cup, tip it out and wipe it around with a flushable wet wipe and reinsert. Honestly if you're curious give it a try, you'll probably love it. I use a Meluna shorty cause I have a very low cervix, they have loads of different sizes, heights and stems, I did have a ball stem but cut it off, they also have a ring pull and a standard stem.

I’m really intrigued by this! What brand of cup do you ladies use? There seem to be loads on the market!

I've used one now for about a year, love it. I've not dealt with taking it out when I'm not at home because you can empty it less often than if you were changing a tampon. They recommend emptying it every 12hrs but when you're heavy you empty it more often. Would never go back to tampons now x

You can also buy wipes specifically for cleaning them while out and about. I'm so glad I've finally given them a try cuz it feels so much better x

I want to give these a try

If you have to empty it while out I'd say you can wipe with a tissue and insert it back again when getting home rinse it out. .

Although with some they can be left in for 12 hours..

I've heard loads about these aswell, mainly from the US women...

I didn't think they were as widely used over here tho...

I thought the same about being out and about. Like when it comes to washing it out you obviously can't do that in a public toilet LMAO! ?x

Even tho the cups flex if you hold the bottom of it between your fingers it wont spill out, when taking it out if you kinda push down like when you give birth and pull the stem it should come out pretty easily and cuz your day on the toilet when you take it out if it does spill it goes straight into the toilet so you might get a bit on your hands but that's it x

I’m not squeamish by any means. Just thinking if you needed to change whilst out, or when you do change cause it’s flex when you pull it out would it squire the blood out of the cup if that makes sense ? x

So far I've only got a bit on my fingers when putting in/taking out(like when you put a non applicator tampon in). I keep saying bits about it to my oh and he's told me to stop cuz he doesn't wana know lol. I guess if your very squeamish it wouldn't be good cuz you do see blood and you obviously see it when you rinse it out to put it back in. I watched a few different vids on YouTube on how to put it in and I haven't leaked yet!(I've taken it out twice in the last 24hrs) it sometimes takes a few times to get it in so i feel comfy but I'm totally loving it!!x

I'd love to know more info, I've ears only good things about these. But like she you out in/remove do you get covered in blood? (Sorry) ?

I've used a cup for about 4 years now, it's the best change I've ever made, it took me 1 cycle to be comfortable with it and know how to insert/remove easily. I never thought I'd be able to use a cup as I have a prolapsed cervix, bladder and bowel and I have endometriosis so my periods are extremely heavy, I used to get through a box of tampons a day having to change hourly, with a cup I get 2-3 hours between changes, plus I noticed the cramps were less with a cup and they don't dry you out like tampons do so no painful removal on the last day. I've saved myself an absolute fortune too as my cup cost me £12, I spent more than that a month just on tampons and pads. I honestly recommend using menstrual cups to everyone, they're an amazing invention, there's a lot of other alternative menstrual products out there too like reusable pads, sea sponges, disposable menstrual cups, they also have reusable tampon like products too.

I've only been using it since last night but I LOVE it already! So you'll probably all think this is gross but I didn't wana buy one cuz i wasn't sure how I'd get on and my big sister bought one and didn't get on with is so she gave it to Me and obviously she cleaned and steralised it before she gave it to Me and I cleaned it and steralised it before I used it.

I should of got one years ago really but I was always nervous about then so just kept putting it off lol.. it's kinda fascinating to know how much blood you actually lose during a period aswell! I'm defintley a convert lol! I also like the idea of reusable nappies but I couldn't manage it with having 2 in nappies so I'm glad I can use a cup now instead of tampons x

I’ve been eyeing one up for ages. I’m intrigued. I’m all for being eco-friendly, and since I’ve had Elliott- my periods are so, so heavy- tampons aren’t coping! X

I love love love my cup!

I didn't find out about them for a while.

I've not felt mine when it is in. ( now won't be using it for a few months as I'm pregnant) it took a few cycles to get use to getting in it but once I figured what worked for me it was fine.

I wasn't able to use tampons after having my son it was uncomfortable. Much prefer a cup!

Xx
