I was on sertraline and they made me feel ill for a week or so, headaches and sickness. They actually made me feel more depressed for a couple of weeks (doctor said it was normal) then I was fine and within a month or so I was feeling more myself x

Yes and that’s a normal side effect of them. Usually lasts 2-4 weeks.

I got them changed to citlopram which are the same family of drug but my body accepted them better. Now on another one as mine developed further and needs more.

Maybe have a word with the gp there’s lots of them they can try and not all suit all so you may be able to change and have one with less side effects

I've been prescribed them & the pharmacist did mention the side affects. She said it should only last a few weeks.

As vix said there are a few you can go on so if it persists then speak to your gp & change x

I was prescribed citalopram a couple of years ago.

I was warned I might feel nauseous or even be ill for the first couple of weeks, along with dizziness, headaches etc, then the initial side effects would subside. They lasted a week, I fainted in the shower, then after that I was fine.

Thankyou for all the comments ladies! I've been on them for a week now and I don't feel as sick as I did when I first started them. Now I just need them to kick in and make me feel normal again!xx
