first infant milk vs follow on milk

So kasen will be 6months on November 1st and he's currently on SMA Gold first infant milk which is ten quid a tin.. the follow on milk is also ten quid a tin but 2 for 15quid.. so my question is what's the difference? I'll be keeping him on the 1st milk till he's 6months anyway.. with Bear he just stayed on the first milk till he was 1 then went onto cows milk.. x

Thanks for the replies ladies... it was purely for the fact id save money so once he's 6months I'll try him on it and see if he's okay with it if not I'll go back to the first one xx

There is no real difference between them I would say change at six months if it’s going to save you money but it’s not essential

As keri said they're only made for advertising really as they're not allowed to advertise first milk, I had my first on follow on milk but that was over 4 years ago, my 9 month old is still on first milk but he has had the odd box of follow on when no where has had the first milk in stock, if it's going to save you money then why not, no harm, formulas expensive ha xx

There's nothing additional in the follow on that they actually need.. formula companies created them as a loop hole to be able to advertise (as they aren't allowed to advertise 1st milk). If it's going to save you money then I guess it's worth trying tho! X
