midwifes

So I had midwifes yesterday, I'm 24weeks and 4days and my blood pressure was fine, baby's heartbeat was fine (after she managed to find it... they dont check the heartbeat at every appointment now :( they did when i was pregnant with Bear after 24weeks) bump is measuring on track.. the only thing was she found glucose in my pee.. she said as I've got to have the blood glucose test anyway not to worry about it but now I'm worried I've got pregnancy diabetes :( (I've got the test on Feb 2nd when I'll be 26weeks 5days)

I had glucose in my urine at 38 weeks... About 50% of pregnant women have it once or twice kn their pregnancy and is usually just because they ate something sugary beforehand.

If you have GD they try to manage it with diet first usually, then medication if necessary. Often induced a couple of weeks early. Good luck hun x

Just cut back on sugar if your diet is particularly sugary. I had a high glucose reading one time - but I had eaten a chocolate bar on my way to the appointment ? It never happened again x

Did you have a sugary cereal before the appointment? Sometimes that can do it? Hope you're ok. X

I've never had glucose in my pee and was diagnosed with GD after routine testing. I'm diet controlled, and have been since 25 weeks (now 35+4), my levels aren't to great now but after 30 weeks they can be difficult to control. If you were to have it, it's not the end of the world. They'll even let you go to 40+6 if you're diet controlled :) I'm sure you'll be fine, sometimes it's just one of them things having glucose in urine xx

I didnt have glucose in my pee but when i did the test my levels were through the roof. It was hereditary in my case as my mother had developed type 2 diabetes after having gestational diabetes in all of her 3 pregnancies. At first I was told to diet, worked for a bit then they decided to be me on 1 tablet of metformin a day then by the end of the pregnancy I was on it 3 times a day because my diabetes had become worse.

Its not that bad tbh, just a few lifestyle changes e.g. not a lot of potatoes, bread, more protein etc. I was induced early at 39 weeks because its easier for them to avoid complications. However during labour etc no one checked my sugar levels which must have kept fluctuating because my lo was born with low sugar levels. Apparently the midwifes didnt believe I had gd because I was "fit and healthy looking" lol. If u do have it, don't worry, it will usually go after you give birth. Mine did and i must say white toasted bread with butter and tea with sugar tasted soooooooooo great lol

Good luck sweetie x
