18, Pregnant, Single...
Hey ladies I'm 18 and I just found out I'm pregnant today. I've taken 4 tests and they're all positive, including a digital one. I'm excited to be a mom, but 2 days ago I found out my boyfriend had been cheating on me for almost an entire year. We've been together for almost 5 years, we started dating when we were 13. We're broken up and I'm scared that I'm going to be a single mom. I'm terrified of what's going to happen. I just need advice, support, anything i can get right now.

Line up your support system, parents and tell him if you haven't yet. I was 16 with my first son and we had broken up a few weeks before I found out. So what I did was confirm at the dr's with my mom, told him and waited for his parents to find out. Being a single mother was difficult, I did it for a long time and managed to graduate on time and finish college. So it will not be the end of your life, but it will be hard.
Good luck?

Start looking into/thinking about what you want custody-wise and child-support wise. Right now he has every right to that child, think about how much you want him in your and the baby's life and what kind of relationship you will have with him moving forwards. He will also be responsible for some kind of child-support I'd imagine if you aren't living together, these aren't super fun things to think about right now but better start talking with lawyers etc now than after the baby is born

I am in the same boat as you right now except married and already have two children with him. We broke up for three months and got back together and six months later here I am pregnant and have grown to learn that he hasn't changed much at all and I'll tell you if you can't trust him now it's best to leave and do what's best for your child and yourself! Staying in an unhealthy relationship makes it so much harder for you and the little ones involved. Being a single mom is easier than being in a stressful untrusting relationship. I wish you the best of luck and i would love to help anyone not make the same mistakes as I did in the long run you'll see loving yourself is much more rewarding than someone who isn't worthy of you!! God bless you and your little one!

I'm 17 with my first daughter on the way. The father and I were together then split,up and got back together in February not long before we found out were pregnant. Just take it one day at a time and give it some time. There's plenty of other people around that'll be here for you if you need it. Look for your family for support too.

Thank you so much for your advice ladies. It's good/sad to know that I'm not alone or going through this situation. I went to the doctors to get it confirmed, I'm definitely pregnant. I don't want to keep the baby away from the father at all. I will be civil with him for the sake of our child, but that's it. Thank you for reading my story and sharing yours!

Being a mother is so rewarding and fulfilling. What's meant to be will be. Being a single mom is hard but like I said it's sooooo rewarding and the bond u have is so amazing. If u guys are meant to be together u will be. I was a single mom and now am dating someone else and pregnant with my 2nd and he's amazing. My daughter knows him as her dad and he wants to adopt her. So don't be afraid you'll never be in a relationship again unless it's with the father. My daughter bio dad isn't in her life and never was. I'm truly so blessed and being a single mom makes u more aware and appreciate things more and enjoy life so much more too. This baby is gonna be such a blessing to you! I saw your story from a couple years ago about depression, and I know this baby will change u. I was in a similar situation and she's what's keeps me going! I had her at 18 I'm almost 22 now and she's almost 3! Time flies and these have been the best years of my life. You never know true/unconditional love until you meet your child❤️ congrats!

Hi I'm 18 as well and not with my baby's dad but I do think if you can stay out of court do so it will be much easier on both of you. My baby's dad although he left me halfway throughout my pregnancy and became an ass we are now on good terms once baby got here and he has apologized so the past stays behind us. I used to think I would be depressed forever and I thought I should be with someone I had a baby with but once I accepted my situation I became a much happier person and I am in love with my baby and I'm glad his dad is too. I could care less now if he's with me or not I'm too obsessed and in love with my baby to care about whether he is or decides one day he doesn't want to be involved in his sons life. If you need to talk though you can msg me.

What ever you do, Do not let him know the child's social security number! Tht way he can't claim the baby with out you knowing. And don't let him tell you he will get more money then u on the taxes if he claims the baby. And don't forgive him bc ur emotional. That's a whole yr he didn't care.. sorry I have issues when it comes to cheaters I was with my x for almost 6 yrs and I kept forgiving him bc I was stupid and we were together since I was 15... and I won't lie it's hard at first but it will get easier and You will find someone who deserves you and will live ur baby

You're so young so I don't know how great my advice will be but this is how I would handle it.. I would have a conversation with him about your relationship status. What does your relationship together mean? How serious is he when it comes to your relationship? What was his purpose for cheating? Did he accomplish what he wanted by doing so? Does he feel that the two of you need to end things immediately? How do you feel about it? Are you a strong enough person to forgive? Are you strong enough to not go overboard on trust issues if you were to continue your relationship? Are you both willingly to actively listen to each other and give each other what you need in order to make the relationship work? Ask each other these questions. Think about how you feel afterwards. Where do you go from here? Then bring in the conversation about the baby and ask each other these questions. Have they changed? Where do you go now from here?
These things aren't black and white. Unfortunately feelings don't always match up with right and wrong. You also have options as a women. You have the right to abort, adopt, or keep. Think about your future goals and how each change will affect it. Again there are no right answers. But best of luck and I hope what ever path you go, it works out best for you.

Having a baby is challenging at any age, married or single. If you focus on taking care of yourself and being the best Mother you can be, then your baby will be just fine. I know it's scary and overwhelming, but there is a reason this blessing happened. Enjoy it and good luck!
