Kids Sharing a Room
I have an 8yr old DS and a 2 yr old dd and baby #3 on the way. We live in a 3 bd house so I'm trying to decide which kids will be sharing a room since the older two who sleep thru the night are different genders and have a big age gap. I'm guessing new baby will be in our room for a while in a bassinet/pack and play (3-4 months was the norm for the first 2 kids but they had a nursery to move into). Anyone been there done that and have suggestions of what worked for you?

I haven't personally been in that position but if it were me I think I'd have the older 2 share a room until the youngest is 18 months/in a toddler bed. Just because it's going to be hard for a 2 or 3 year old to comprehend and deal with a young child waking up in the middle of the night. But your oldest is old enough to understand your 2 year old MAY have a few off nights. Just my opinion though. You could go the co-sleeping route for your new one and avoid this situation altogether. I couldn't do it, the hubby and I like our space too much. Lol. But if you're looking to try to avoid uprooting anyone, that's the only thing I can think of.

I would just keep the baby in our room for like the first year. The baby doesn't have to be in your bed it can have its own bed. you don't want the older kids feeling like the new babe is invading and because 3-4 months old don't sleep through the night so that's not really fair for the older kids to be awaken by the new babe. So I would just have new babe stay in my room until babe is older or until we have a bigger house.
