Trouble with Solids
Anyone's lo have a hard time eating solids and table food? My lo is now able to handle stage 2 and the new Gerber "Lil Bits" stage 3 foods consistently without gagging but often refuses to eat unless distracted. If she doesn't see the spoon coming she will eat but if she knows you want her to eat she covers her mouth and fights making it impossible to get any in. And forget about table food. I put a little bit of whatever we are eating on her tray each meal but she won't even touch it. She just turned 1, is well below the growth charts for her age (but following her own curve so ped isn't worried), and my breast milk stash is almost gone so now I'm getting worried about her nutrition. I just don't want her growth to stop or slow when my milk is gone. Advice?

She was born at 36 weeks but was only 4 lb 4 oz due to iugr. Yes she still has tongue thrust. She puts a yogurt melt in and her tongue immediately pushes it back out.

Have u tried going bck to stage one n feeding with the finger. No spoons. My lo has issues with "spoon" every time I put the spoon in her mouth she has a huge fit yet she eats the food. So we decided to just feed her with our fingers :/

Thanks ladies! I will mention it to the ped tomorrow at her check up. I'm open to any and all support therapies. I had my lo evaluated at 6 months for early intervention but she didn't qualify at the time. However now we are having a whole new set of issues with this feeding business. I just feel like I should have started doing baby led weaning from the start instead of pureed baby foods. Maybe she would have a better handle on self feeding table foods by now. But I can't go back and change it now. Just have to make the best decisions I can and move forward.

So ped wants her to have a swallow test done and referred us for some ot. Also have to find ways to add heavy cream, olive oils, and other high calorie foods to her diet as well as replacing a bottle with pediasure to help her gain weight. She barely gained anything since her last check up and nothing in the last month. :(
