Yes my son was two when he went into early steps for speech therapy. It made a huge difference, he wasn't verbal at all and now he talks with no problem. Highly recommend doing it if there is any delay

Thanks so much monkeys! She tries to talk, some words are clear and most aren't. But she comprehends very well. The doctor thinks speech therapy will open her right up when it comes to communicating.

Yes! My son started Speech Therapy 9 months ago. He only knew 5 words by the age of 2. Now he's 2yr and 9 months and knows 88 words. The therapist comes to my house once a week for one hour she's great!

Thank you for your input ladies! Leah, I know for me, it really depended on my insurance. My insurance required a referral for speech therapy. Yours could be different though!

@Lea my son's dr was the one suggested. He made the phone call and the therapist call me back. If you have any concerns tell the dr.

We took my daughter to get her in a pre k program. They referred her to one of the schools. If you are in the United States and your child is 3 and need speech you can go to your local school district and ask them to test her or how to go about it. In the United States if a child allowed to have a free and appropriate education from 3-21. My daughter started at 3 in early intervention with an IEP. It has helped so much.

Same as pp, if you are in US call your local board of education and they will point you in the right direction. Did this with my DD at 3 and it made such a difference. She is almost 5 and does a great job. It's also free which is awesome!! Speech can be pricey depending upon your type of insurance so this is the route to go I feel.
