monster DAUGHTER in law
Ok peeps time to flip this around :) my mother has a monster daughter in law. When my brother first started seeing this girl everything was good. We all got along, everyone was happy...great right? Well slowly things started to change. My brother and his GF were always fighting. They just didnt seem happy at all. Turns out she had cheated on him a year ago. He goes to confront her to tell her its over. We dont see him for a few days, we start to worry. Suddenly they both show up and anounce shes pregnant....ok great if theyre happy to stay together who are we to judge? Well now we see brother less and less. We dont see him for a full 3 months. They call to tell us baby is here. My mother is beside herself because they wont let her visit grandchild. She basically only sees son and grandchild when they need to borrow money. We tell her stop giving him money and she refuses because she'd never see her granddaughter. Now things start getting nasty DIL texts mother saying she doesnt want her husband and child anywhere near us and he needs to focus on his family. She punches my sister when she goes to ask her whats going on and why is she being such a b**** ...my brother now has txt me to tell me he wont be attending our little sisters wedding. Shes devestated as she wanted her big bro to give her away. Sorry this is so long, just wanted to reverse things a little

Sounds like this chick is keeping your brothers balls in her purse. My brothers GF is the same way, and out of respect for my brother we welcomed her with open arms and tried to include her, even though she acts like a spoiled brat. We were at my wedding, I shared a dance with my brother and she stormed off and pouted for the rest of the night like I was trying to steal her man lol. The issue may just be that she's insecure you guys don't like her and will somehow convince your bro to leave her. I'm sorry you're dealing with this, I know how much it sucks. God forbid your brother have a relationship with him parents and siblings!

@cestebelle the reason my sister called this woman a b**** is because she cut my mother out of her granddaughters life, seemingly without good reason but is more than happy to borrow money off of her. Sorry but in the heat of the moment i think my sister was justified. And a punch is hardly a valid response :/ as to asking my brother what we did to offend her he told us it what because we never asked her how she was doing throughout her whole pregancy. I guess she neglected to mention the countless texts and phonecalls from all of us but hey. We would never interfere in his relationship just as i would hope no one would interfere in mine. I did express concern for him when we found out she cheated on him. If thats offensive i dont know what to say

@ myaprilrainbow thank you. Its nice to have some understanding :) it hurts that he has cut us out of his life. By no means at all would we ever make him choose between us and his relationship. He does have a daughter with her after all. It just saddens me that i have a niece i will probably never know properly :( i hope this blows over someday. My sister is very angry that he is not coming to our little sisters wedding and wants us all to cut him out completely i just dont think i could really do that

Punching someone is a bit excessive for getting called a b**** , she was out if line for punching your sister. My big bro's ex-wife was like that, we didn't see him for almost 3 years because she was jealous of how close he was to his sisters. Thankfully he divorced her ass and although she's still a pain with my nephew, brothers current wife is awesome and we see their kids whenever we can. Your brothers relationship with her is his business but this woman seems very immature to want to use her baby as retaliation against your mom.

@lovelyvanessa13 exactly violence is never the answer. I just wish we could all sit down and talk about it but I don't see that happening. As for my brother I'm just getting madder and madder with him. If my DH ever tried to isolate me from my family he'd be shown the door :/ and he'd do the same to me

This is so sad. There's so many women out there who get jealous of their partners relationship with his family and force him to cut off from them. My uncle is with a woman who sounds so alike and he's now lonely as he hasn't seen us for nearly 10 years and basically has no family of his own, not even for any children. Nothing ever got him to see sense and I have no idea why a man would ever let anyone treat their family badly. Surely your brother wants his child to see his side of the family ? God knows what his partner is saying to him

Honestly I would continue to try to have a relationship with your brother and niece. Even if you just send a letter or text every three months at least you are trying and then your brother and niece will have no one to blame but her. At least you've all tried and it's not your fault when the time come when that little girl asks about her family.

Sounds familiar to me. My mom has a monster daughter-in-law as does my mother-in-law (it's not me!!). My brother's wife is nuts, although in recent years she's come around a bit. She and my brother married a month before their first child was born. That was 10 years ago. We saw him in the hospital when he was born (she couldn't keep us out) and we saw him for his first birthday. We saw him only a handful of times after that. Sometimes we might get to be invited to a birthday, but sometimes we weren't. It broke all of our hearts. They've been married now for 10 years and she's never allowed my brother to live with her and their children (they now have 2). She lives with her mommy and doesn't work (correction - she's in her late 30s and has NEVER worked) - she's been "in school" for something like 15 years to get a bachelor's degree. She gets after my brother for working and giving them money. He finally has a good job (he has learning disabilities, so being gainfully employed is difficult for him) and he gives his paychecks to her each month. She does absolutely nothing. When my brother tries to bring up her controlling ways, she throws things back at him and make him feel guilty. No - he hasn't cheated on her (that I'm aware of...we're quite close).
Finally, once I had a baby and they had their second a year later, she comes around more. I've seen my nephew more in the last 2 years than I'd seen him in the first 8 years of his life. She definitely has issues that need to be resolved, but there are too many people who refuse to be told that they may be the, or at least part of the, problem. She and my other psycho SIL are of that crowd who cannot be told they have issues and are causing their relationship problems. So, what does that mean? That means that problem will never be resolved. I hate it, but it makes me grateful for what I have.
