That makes me feel so sad for her. I hope time heals what others have done to make her act that way

Yeah, her situation is sad. She's suspended from school at the moment and they don't have placement for her where she lives, so that's why she's with mum, 4 hours away from her home town. (Mum has had her in her care a year ago when we lived where she did, so that's why they've put her with mum)

And maybe this will sound ignorant because I'll never fully understand what she's gone through, but what is she going to get out of stealing a pregnancy test and lying about being pregnant? And then probably going to lie about having a miscarriage later on too?

I'm trying to understand, but I can't wrap my head around this one.

Lie to the guy and get money for an abortion.

If she lies and tells people she is pregnant then she would get extra attention, maybe extra food, love, care, sympathy when she "loses" the baby. There are a lot of emotional needs that could be met by faking a pregnancy.

Mum just texted me to say she sat down and spoke to her about it. Dena (the girl) says she thinks she pregnant and she didn't realise it was a used test before taking it. Mum is taking her down to the shops to buy her a test.

I find this hard to believe because she's been living with mum for two weeks and just last week she was really sick with her period (headaches, bad cramps etc). But she's now saying it wasn't her real period. She also told me last night she was a Virgin.. Guess not.

Or maybe she was going to sell them? You can make a bit of money selling positive tests to people who want them to trick their partners, it's gross but it happens.

Sounds like she needs some attention. Which is understandble.

I was in foster care.. it's a very difficult thing to go through. I stole everything that belonged to my foster sisters. Including dead batteries. Why? Because I felt like I needed the attention that I never got from my parents. Even if it was awful attention. What she needs is a friend. A mentor. You. She needs someone to help guide her in the right direction. And she needs to be told that there is a purpose for her in the world. She's most likely really sad, hurt, angry, and confused, and it's extremely hard to open up to people who don't fully understand your situation. And no matter how well you think you know her situation, you don't. Just be an ear to her and remind her stealing isn't healthy and that life will get better.

Positive tests also sell for quite a bit online too. It's sad, but true. So she could've been taking them to make a bit of cash, or even to lie to someone.

Pretend to be pregnant. You can't get someone pregnant who's already "pregnant" lol. Hopefully her life gets better /:
