@jazzy, yep! The only time we had visitors was my sisters, and so I wasn't too concerned about the state of the house, but it's spotless any other day.
@jemly. Yeah, I was pretty angry. And the more annoying thing is that they came down just to see us! Not even like they were passing through! Ugh.
But we had a nice time and it's over now so.. I'll just suck it up and never skip cleaning day ?
My lounge room is at the front of the house so I always keep it clean but everyone knows I absolutely hate people coming over without notice so it's just clean because it drives me nuts when it's not.
The rest of my house is messy if I don't get to clean it on the day but it is never dirty. Just toys or bits and pieces everywhere.

When my house is spotless none comes over, when it's messy and I haven't cleaned I get visitors.

Pretty rude but at the same time we have friends who, if they were passing by, would most likely stop in.
The worst is my MIL - she is always welcome here but I wish she would call or text first!

I'm far from a neat freak lol. So I keep the house clean but take days off cleaning once or twice a week lol.
If they came specifically to see you it's pretty rude not to call ahead with more notice.
