Dd (5) got strep throat started antibiotics two days ago and now has diarrhea. She’s only had it today and has gone quite a few times. I’ve given her toast and some yogurt to try to restore the bacteria. But she is also very tired. She slept from 7pm to 830 am today and is now taking a nap again. Is that normal? She’s never had it before and neither have I so I’m not sure what to do.

Is she still running a fever? I had strep often as a child and it would honestly kick my ass. The abbx are probably causing the diarrhea right now so that's also hard on her little body. I would let her sleep unless there's a fever or she's refusing all liquids. Making sure she stays hydrated is most important. Try the BRAT diet when she wakes up, if she's interested.

Antibiotics cause diarrhea. Let her eat yogurt, or give her a probiotic supplement.

The antibiotics are causing the diarrhea. It should go away once she stops them.

She hasn’t a had a fever. We actually had to take her to the urgent care Monday night cause her fever was 103.5 with Advil and Tylenol on board and was crying because her head and neck hurt so bad. The dr gave her steroids and nausea medicine. So I’m glad it hasn’t come back
