Poor so. This will be his first pet that he's gotten used to taking care of that dies. I'm no fish expert but our beta is dying I think. It keeps floating sideways and stops moving and then like freaks and moves again. Dh changed his water last night and dh is the one that always feeds him. He even taught the beta to let itself be petted my dh. It's like the beta knew when he was home cause it would come out and swim all happy around it's tank. Dh is a very sensitive person when it comes to animals and death. So i dont know how he's gonna take it when and if he dies. We might have a funeral if anyone want to attend.

Sounds like your Betta is having swim bladder issues. It can happen when they get constipated. Not to get your hopes up, but you can try changing his food, or at least refreshing it (the cans can get old). I've had about a 50% success with it myself but worth a shot. ?Sorry to hear that hun, I know it's tough to watch.

If you google it, there's something about dropping a frozen pea into the tank if it is the bladder issue. It's worth having a look/trying.

This is gonna sound stupid but what kind of water are you using for your tank?
They don't live very well in city water (all the water treatments and fluoride). I had a beta fish that lasted 3 years and i only ever used well water that wasn't filtered.

I will try the frozen pea thing. And we use city water. We do have the water treatment thingy for beta fish is that not enough?

I always used spring water since I've heard of the water conditioner being toxic if too much is used. Do his fins look okay? My last beta got fin rot and became listless like that, but you can buy treatment that you put in with their food. I thought he was dying at first but then I noticed his fins were like deteriorating ?

Aw that's sweet he's so attached to his fish. I somehow kill all the fish so we're pretty non emotional about it at this point lol. Hopefully your fish makes it!

Oh god, I had a Black Moor for five freaking years. I named him (at the time I thought he was a girl) Stella, and I loved that little guy so much. When he died I was a wreck. I cried and cried, I called off work and everything.
