I don't think it should be legal... the animals aren't going to be using these products. Let humans volunteer, I mean there are a lot of people that will do things for a quick buck.
I think it's a little cruel to subject innocent animals to standardized testing. Most don't have opposable thumbs. How are they going to fill out a Scantron?!!!
I completely do NOT agree with animal testing, after all the videos I saw and how they suffer I just can't see the point of it, why not use humans that are more accurate and can consent rather than poor animals that do not ask to be tortured.
I kind of don't get it...like if you "tested" chocolate with dogs they'd get sick, but it's fine for humans. So I guess I don't really understand how animal testing really is beneficial. On top of the fact the animals I'm sure aren't kept in great conditions and are continually exposed to potentially harmful things.
I think it should be illegal. Animals shouldn't have to be test subjects for humans even if it is for some sort of medicine etc. Test on those willing and test on people in jail for heinous crimes, not on animals who can't consent even in the slightest.
Some of the most atrocious things are done to animals in the name of medical testing, including using them in the manufacturing process. So, I think if the argument is going to be that animals shouldn't suffer, how do you separate that from one industry to another without first establishing that animals' lives mustn't be worth as much as humans? And if they're not worth as much as humans for the purposes of making medication then you can really make that argument for any human activity if it suits because it's all subjective.

I've never really put much thought into it. Or research. But like a couple pp's have said I don't understand how you can get accurate results from a species that isn't human. No matter how close they are they still aren't human so idk how it makes for accurate results.

I'm not putting my opinion out here, but to answer a question to pp, animal testing is used for initial development. It determines if it's safe for mammals overall, then they move up to more human-like animals. Final clinical tests are done on humans if no huge flags were raised in the animal testing.

I'm against animal testing. If they want to do tests they can pay people to be guinea pigs. At least the humans can consent.
