Well water and fluoride
We are moving and have well water now. Dr said I need an RX for the kids for fluoride do any moms here give that to their kids? Is it absolutely necessary to?
I was given flouride as a child and my teeth are stained (cannot be whitened) my current dentist confirmed it. So when my pedi prescribed the flouride for my daughter I asked my dentist what he recommended and he said to wait until she was two. But she should be fine with her regular toothpaste. Call me selfish but I was always got picked on about my stained teeth and they still bug me now. I didn't want that for my daughter.
I am in the dental field I believe you should wait to see if the water not having fluoride is affecting his teeth after 6 months to a year. There are both bad and good with fluoride but honestly see of anything changes at that point in time I would ask for the rx toothpaste not tablets.
Edit: also if Old enough to chew gum chew a gun with xylitol. It's a natural sugar that fights against cavities I believe orbit has it in it.
No way. I would find any other healthier alternative. I can't use fluoride, even tiny amounts of fluoride give me stomach pains, much like food poisoning, depending on the amount i ingest. It's horrible. I used to get daily stomach pains, and couldn't figure out what was causing it for the life of me. And then someone mentioned to me, about how it could be the fluoride in my toothpaste, said it wouldn't hurt to take a shot at using a non fluoride kind. So I gave it a try. And my stomach pains went away. I have to be careful about things with fluoride in it now. I even went back and forth between fluoride, and non fluoride, testing myself to make sure it was that. And it sure was. So it makes me wonder if a small amount can do that to my body, what could it do to my son? And if it can do that, how can it be good? We live in a fluoride free home ?
