Crate TRAIN him maybe? Leave him in there for short amounts of time and just gradually make it longer and longer I mean start at like 5 mins then go to 10 and do on you could also black him off in the kitchen or laundry room u just gotta teach him he will be ok when u leave u will come back lol
You should look into crate training. You want him to associate it with being safe and secure so he's happy to stay in it till you let him out.
I know with our dog, she doesn't like being in it overnight for bed time, but is more then happy to be in it when we are gone through out the day. She even seeks it out to lay down when she wants quiet time to herself.
We have to keep a blanket in there, and a light on though. Otherwise she becomes an escape artist lol.

I'd invest in a metal crate, or metal dog run (but it would need to be on concrete or he could dig out), and definitely crate train.

I have him sleep in it at night and he does fine. He has a metal crate as well.
