Whooping cough usually sounds almost like a "barking" cough.
If baby's temperature is normal (not high OR low), baby isn't working any harder to breathe, and baby is eating and peeing like normal, it's probably not a huge deal.
BUT I agree with PPs, take him into the doctor anyways- there may be other signs you aren't seeing or it could be the start of a more serious problem. It's always best to err on the side of caution with newborns.
I tried getting him in today. But they were already overbooked the nurse told me to take him to the e.r but I don't think it's er worthy. I will be taking him into his Dr tomorrow.
Paeds often don't get the classic whoop. I'd be taking him to get swabs done ASAP & get him on antibiotics until the swans come back clear. I'd go to emergency if I could go in, whooping cough can turn nasty in little ones very quickly.
I'd also be kicking dad up the backside for not taking his health seriously with a baby in the house. He needs to go get seem too..
