when do you worry ?
About a toddler with a fever ? Dd is 3 yesterday woke up with a fever 101 and broke it with ibuprofen. She has no other symptoms of anything she is playing and talking. Was a little fussy but nothing big and her eyes just looked a little sad like watery. She's also been eating and drinking fine. She has a fever today as well of 101.1 highest she's had was last night at 101.6 I've never had her with a fever and no other symptoms. Just Wondering what it could be or looking for advice.

My friend's kid is having a fever since last Sunday, today she took him to the doctor because he is acting fine, no other symptoms only fever and the doctor tested him for strep throat and was positive. Another friend of mine has 2 kids with strep throat too.

Watch to see if they become lethargic and stop playing. My doc always says as long as they are running around and laughing its all good.

Sounds like a virus. If she's acting okay I wouldn't even medicate a fever that's below 103. A fever of 101 is beneficial and hopefully if you let it run it's course she'll get better really quickly!! Just keep her hydrated :)

We never medicate unless it hits 103 unless she is acting off. Fevers are good if not super high.

Thanks ladies I appreciate it. And I really wasn't aware not to medicate until 103, she only starts acting like tired or off when the ibuprofen wears off. Other than that she is fine. Is that still OK ?

I also dont medicate fevers under 103.
Just wanted to add, running a fever is your bodies way of killing viruses and other "bugs". More often than not, my kids run a fever for a day and never get the full blown illness :)

Yea we don't medicate under 103 unless he is miserable or about to go to bed. (I'm scared it will spike super high during the night). My son is hardly ever sick though and usuAlly when the fevers run their course he's sick maybe a day. And only one time has it been so high that he was lethargic and unresponsive even while medicated. Usually my son is like deliriously happy when has a fever.
