toddler speech help :(

I know you are not professionals but i am concerned about my daughters speech. We speak in Spanish and English to her she is going to be 3 in January and she says a lot of words but not clearly, she can make sentences and understands 2 or 3 step commands like "takr your jacket off and put it in your room " and so on but its the clarity im worried shes smart and bright its just the speech. I mean she speaks both English and Spanish and knows colors and numbers very well... Am i overreacting? Dr at 2 year check up said she was fine and said we could see speech therapist for our comfort not cause she really needed it sorry so long... Dont let this turn into sandwich rant please ladies lol i had to.

Is it the articulation of the sounds a and words?

That's pretty common of us who are dual languaged.

One of my kids sounded like he was fluent in English, German, Spanish, creol... Lol well he can still pronounce so many different sounds. And this is the one who was born with soft palette cleft, cleft lip and lip tie lol.

He did speech therapy from 19 months until grade 7.

The only thing I hate about speech therapy.... They only do the therapies in English vendor if both are spoken in the home. So at first he was really confused since he was mainly Spanish.

But in school it's all English too, so they only do English for speech therapy.

Its the articulation. Because i notice that she like tells me these really long "sentences" and i only really catch a few, things since its sometimes like slurred in if that makes sense?

My husband has a stutter and sometimes his words are also like slurred together my mil said dd sounded like him at times when so was that age but i still worry

Sandwich rant?

Anyway, I would have to actually hear your daughter to know of she is delayed and, if so, how much. If the doctor isn't worried, you're probably fine, but is there any harm in seeing a speech therapist? S/he could tell you if therapy is needed.

Yes, stuttering can be hereditary.

Just keep practicing the words.

Say them a little slower, don't bring too much attention to it either. Just say it once after a wrong pronunciation, just slower.

If you really think something's wrong, seek speech therapist.

Mine, he really couldn't say the letters R, W and couple of other letters, and some blends, he could in Spanish somewhat ... but not in English. And English is where they needed him to enunciate words to understand him. Any letter that needs actual lip movement were letters he either couldn't say it had a hard time saying, due to the lip tie.

So basically, my son sounded exactly like a teletubby!

He never never who they were lol.
