Sleep help, please!

Ladies, I don't know what to do. I'm at the end of my rope. I'm fall down and pass out exhausted. I have 3 children: a 2 year old, a 1 year old, and a 2 month old. I also work full time. I've become very good at existing on very little sleep, but this I just can't do.

Maybe the change of having a new baby?

Can you put a mattress on the floor in your room for him? He may be happier being closer to you.

It could always be the baby, but it seems odd it took so long to kick in. I'm not a cosleeper, but I've been letting him come to bed with me the past few nights and it doesn't help much. He still cried and shook even though he was right beside me.

Could this be a nightmare issue? Like maybe he had a really bad dream about his room that he remembers when it's dark in there, even though there's a nightlight and we tried leaving the hall light on for him as well?

My son does the same thing. But I have no other kids. It's so hard and I have to get up at 3 every morning for work. He also wakes up 5 times a night. Does it every get better? ?

My son went through this! He just turned 2 this week. It lasted 3 - 6 weeks. I don't know how long because of sleep deprivation.

Now my son 'tucks' daddy into bed at 9pm. Then he sits with me on the couch with a sippy of milk and cuddles. He's usually out by 10-10:30pm at the latest. When he's out I transfer him to his crib. He wakes around 7am.

Definitely sounds like nightmares. Is his room dark? Maybe try adding a nightlight?

Sounds like something in his room is scaring him. We had this issue with my oldest niece.

Ask him if he's scared or if there is something scary. Do you have another room he could move to possibly? We swapped niece and nephews rooms and it stopped almost immediately.

Maybe he has nightmares or something in his room is scaring him. If he doesn't have a nightlight, try getting him one. If he does have one, see how he does without it (I had to take my kids nightlight away because it was causing creepy shadows.) my oldest gets scared of the doorknobs on the closet.

Maybe a sound machine would help him relax?

It's more you than him. Put him in his room to bed, every time he gets out take him back to bed and tell him he needs to sleep in his own bed, say I love you good night and go to bed. The first 2 days are hard and exhausting but it works. Be consistent and don't give in. Don't be afraid that your hurting his feelings or any of that. You need your sleep, I went through this with both my girls. Just keep reminding yourself how much better of a mother you can be if your rested. Have daddy help keep him in bed, don't let him give in either.

Yeah get him a white noise machine. I bought an awesome one off Amazon that was pretty cheap and has six different sounds. It has a plug in or it can take batteries. I bought it for my baby but it's helped my three year old too.

ETA: it's called my baby sound spa portable. It's green and white. It small and it has a timer. Very easy to take on the go.

Thanks ladies! I think we may have a good night tonight. He sat with his dad for a while and started to get drowsy so he took him to his room. He was starting to get worked up before they even got to the stairs. My SO moved his nightlight to a different outlet, which helped but he was still whining a bit. We're using my tablet with an app running, I think it's set to a soft rain storm or something along those lines. It was set to close after 30 minutes. So far, everything seems to be okay. Hopefully he doesn't wake up scared tonight!

Check out the lighting in the room at night, maybe it is frightening him maybe shift around the furniture a bit, change the night light. Sounds like a nightmare that may be recurring. If you are a praying person it always helps to pray and bless his room and him.

Last night was a success! He slept straight through the night and woke up around 9:30 this morning. Here's to hoping things are getting back to normal!
