Thanks ladies! Waiting on the labs now. They are having me start a 24 hour urine catch as well. My BP is staying elevated, reading anywhere from 150/95 to 137/107 so far. And now I'm developing a headache so I'll have to mention that next time they come in though I'm sure it's from my BP being higher than normal.

They sent me home to complete a 24 hour urine catch. Honestly I'm a little concerned. My blood pressure never did go down and was still reading the same as when I got in there, and my face is still slightly swollen as well ?

My baby's heart rate was within normal range but bounced around a lot from 120ish up to 180ish and everything in between. I'm not sure why they sent me home with my BP still elevated but I will definitely be talking to my doctor about it. I don't see her until Friday but I'm going to try to get in tomorrow.

They shouldn't really be sending you away without meds to control your bp. Also they shouldn't be sending you home without it being stable either. If you get more concerned before Tmro or headaches etc worsen please don't be afraid to go back in. High bp is not something to be messed with. Hope everything is ok xx

They sent you home?? Is there an on call dr at your ob office for the weekend? You should call. I don't think you should be at home with you bp like that.

Your bp is high but depending on what's normal for you try not to stress over it. Bp rises as a natural reaction to all kinds of things. If you get dizzy, see spots, headache worsens or have any chest pains then call your doctor back. Until then try to relax!

Thanks ladies. I thought it was weird to be sent home too. Other than my nurse I saw the head resident, I wasn't able to see the doctor on call. I was really lightheaded while there but they didn't seem concerned about that either. My BP wasn't crazy high but for me it was. I never read above 120ish/80. My BP is always right on the money ?

Ladies! Advice please! I've been home since around 1pm. I've only peed twice and my urine is steadily getting darker. I'm collecting it like they want but I'm having lower back pain (which I told them earlier) that isn't going away. All I've had today to drink is water and 2 drinks of my SO's Dr. Pepper to get Freddy moving. Should I call L&D about the darkening urine or just keep collecting?

You might not be drinking enough water. Increase your fluid intake.

I would go back personally. I don't think they should've sent you home in the first place.

I'm going to drink as much water as I can. It's hard drinking a ton when nauseous but I'm going to wait until 10 and see what it's looking like. My main concern is that it was fine when I first got to the hospital this morning and had only gotten worse even though I've not decreased my fluid intake any. This whole day has been pretty stressful ?

You need to be drinking at least 2000 ml of fluid per day, preferably water. Caffeine (like Dr Pepper) will dehydrate you, and in combination with your decreased fluid intake, make your urine darker.

They can send you home with your BP elevated. I know it's scary, but they need to see the results of your 24 hour urine to know what they're dealing with. They will treat pre-e differently than gestational hypertension. If you can't keep fluids down, I would go back. It sounds like you might already be dehydrated and that isn't helping.

It sounds like pre-eclampsia. But they shouldn't have sent you home without meds to lower your pressure like a diuretic or BP med.

Magnesium is usually given to treat preeclampsia

They need a 24 hour urine to diagnose pre-e. Magnesium is a dangerous medication when given inappropriately, and is definitely inappropriate for a patient who has gestational hypertension but not pre-e. Quickly lowering her blood pressure to normal range is also dangerous.
