How Do You Choose Baby Names: Meaning or Sound?

Dd name means "image of victory of the people of the hammer" if I'm stringing her first, middle and last into a description. Sounds like some sort of warrior princess lol.

I didn't choose her name based on meaning but I did discourage some names for their negative meaning while I was searching.

Nope, I never looked up the meaning of my dd's name until recently. She's now 2 and I am questionable about her name because of the meaning. SO said I should ignore it and it won't define her, but I still think about it.

Meryl Laine

Meryl after Meryl Steep. I look up to her as a role model and I think the name is pretty, has a traditional feel (I love traditional names) but there is a low chance of there being a million Meryls in her class when she goes to school.

Laine is my best friends middle name.

Tixco (TEEsh-co)

It mean "in our eyes" in nahuatl (it's the traditional language of native americans. SO is mexican and native american)

We have a few names we are deciding between for the middle name, but when put together with the first name will form a complete sentence. Like "in our eyes, you are precious" etc...

Our son's name means fiery or little flame. Our last name means gentle in Arabic, so he is our "gentle fire" which is extremely accurate for his personality.

Our daughter's name means brave, so she is "gentle and brave".

Both their middle names were picked for their flow rather than meaning.

My husbands name means praised, gentle lion and mine means the gift of God is rebirth (my parents were told they couldn't have kids, so my name reflects the "miraculous" nature of my birth).

We have both always liked that our parents put thought into our names, so we wanted to continue that with our kids.

Yes I chose Jeremiah amir

Jeremiah means exalted one

Amir means leader or prince, power

Guinevere means fair one and Jane means Jehovah has been gracious. I knew what Guinevere meant beforehand but never Jane. Jane was picked for my grandma who passed away when I was a baby. But now that I look at it all together it's perfect. She has very fair skin, like me. And Jehovah was gracious by giving her to me. We tried for close to 4 yrs before she was conceived

My SO and I have a boys name down pat (Christopher Myron Ward) and the girls names is still in the air. I like the name Clara Beth but he isn't a fan. ?
