Red bumps...help!
Hi ladies! My son's doctor's office is closed for the day and they don't have a nurse line to call. My son (17 months) woke up from his nap covered in small red bumps. He doesn't seem bothered by them at all or I would have him at the ER. He's not scratching them or anything. He's been fevered off and on the past few days but he's recovering from an ear infection and I assumed it, along with his trouble sleeping, was caused by the infection but perhaps I was wrong. He's eating normally and playing. So I was just wondering what all it could be? Chicken pox, maybe? I'm not too concerned about him since he's not bothered by it but I also have an 11 week old daughter who I don't want catching anything, though most likely too late to prevent that. Any input will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Was he on antibiotics for the ear infection? Was he hot while sleeping? Where are the bumps mainly located?
Could be viral, a reaction to antibiotics (even if he has had them before) or a heat rash.

Are the bumps raised? If not and he has no other symptoms, I would say it could be petechia, which are very small bruises under skin. This is caused by low platelets. I would get a blood count by the doctor. Usually this stuff comes on after a viral infection. Just a guess. I cant tell you without seeing the bumps. Good luck!

My son seems to get that rash with every fever or infection it seems to be when he is in the middle or at the tail end of things!! The dr says he sees it regularly! Hope he feels better soon!!

Thanks guys. We waited the night and I called his doctor the next morning. He has appointment Thursday since he's acting okay, if a little more fussy and clingy than usual. It hasn't gotten any better though and it seems to be grouping together now, if that makes sense.
