sleep training and exhausted!

sleep training and exhausted!

Oh boy am I exhausted! My son is nearly 11 months old and has always hated his crib. He'd rather sleep anywhere else, the floor, my bed, his car seat. The problem is he doesn't sleep comfortably and it's keeping him from sleeping through the night. I've started sleep training and it's so hard to listen to my baby cry but he's so stubborn I know it's the only thing that's going to work. If I keep taking him out of his crib we'll never break this habit! Being almost 25 weeks pregnant is only making me more emotional and tired. Any suggestions to help me through this? :(

Keep with it I know it's hard I started sleep training my lo when he was 8 months old plus we had just moved into a new house it took about a week of him crying and being fussy until he started sleeping through the night I suggest don't go in right away as soon as he starts crying wait a little while he'll eventually get the hint you mean business and it's bedtime I we also bought a sleep sack to keep him warm

My son didn't start sleeping through the night until he was 14 months old. Some babies just aren't ready as soon as we'd like them to be. Good luck. Hopefully his sleep patterns will level off and you'll be able to get some sleep before baby comes.

Hi!! I successfully sleep trained my boy when he was 8 and a half months old. I was always against crying it out but I was at my end and now that I'm 20 weeks pregnant I'm so thankful I did!! I read the sleep sense and I altered it to it to work best for me and my parenting skills. I was still breast feeding at the time until 13 months so keep that in mind. I stuck to a very strict schedule I made sure that for two weeks we had no plans and I could be home and stick with the routine until he had it down! Supper was at 5 30, then bath time and then when his bath was done I brought him to his room where we got ready for bed Jammie's lotion brush hair when we were done around 6:15 I would nurse him and put him down still awake, the first night I cried haha, he cried for about an hr and a half with me going in every 5 minuets never picking him up just giving him a hug and a smooch and laying him back down because he could stand at this point he finally fell asleep and slept from 830 to 8, next night exact same thing he cried less by the third night he fussed a little and went straight to sleep. Naps are still inconsistent with times depending when he wakes up and our schedule is now different because he is 15 months but he goes down with no bottle or anything, also we had a music machine which I read is great to have to calm them if they wake up in the middle of the night, also if they wake up in the night be sure to let them cry for 10 minutes it might seem like a lifetime but it's really not most Of the time hunter would go back to sleep 10 minutes on the dot and if not I would go In and nurse him this eventually faded from once a night to none. I was a first time mom who co slept and swore up and down that my baby would never sleep through the night never mind in his own room in his own crib I was such a skeptic and now I'm so glad I followed through he is such a happier baby!! Sorry if this is scattered that's just how I am lately hah if you need anymore info PM. Me this is just what worked for us. Good luck mama!

Thanks ladies! It's tough but I think we'll get there. Naps have been easiest for us so far. Tonight he didn't cry at all just laid in his crib for a while and fell asleep, but he has woken up twice since then and has had trouble going back to sleep. I haven't picked him up, though, so I'm still hanging in there! I let him know I'm here with a hug and a few pats on the back but then I leave the room and he cries. Sounds like he's tired himself out again for now. Hopefully it keeps going in this direction and we'll both get a full night of sleep before long!
