Smoking around me Anyone else dealing with a family member smoking around you? We're living with my…

My mom and dad are both like this. We don't live with them thank god, but anytime we go to visit I tell them they have to smoke outside and we won't go inside unless they cleaned and sprayed first. I don't want to be inhaling that crap and I definitely don't want my children taking any of it in.

It drives me crazy!! If we had anywhere else to live right now I would go there. I've already told her she's not holding our daughter if she smells like smoke and she just kinda never says anything to acknowledge me. I think that she thinks I'm not being serious but I am!! I'm not putting my daughters health at risk so she can have a dumb addiction!

My hubby smokes but he tries not to around me and definitely not in our home then he has to brush his teeth and change or spray body spray and wash his hands after or at least germx he knows the drill. I don't feel bad for asking him to do these things if he must smoke, I used to smoke myself and when I seen the 2 pink lines I quit. He usually doesn't smoke when his home either anyway unless hes stressed.

Omg ... my boyfriend...when I was staying there ... has a mother and step dad that chain smoke ..packs of cigarettes I'm talking three packs a day all day everyday in the house . And has the audacity to think that I'm gonna wanna bring baby over there and they can't stop smoking cigarettes for at least an hour outta the day. I have nothing against cigarette smokers but me personally I cannot stand the smell. And I went through the same thing I went to visit a month ago. And he asked them to not smoke in the house while I was there .. that lasted maybe twenty min. That's definitely not healthy for you or the baby. And the smell is hard to get away from . It sticks on your clothes like nobody's business. The walls the ceilings turn colors. (Bad experiences) had to get outta there . Hopefully things change before the baby gets here . But I had to leave . That was out of the question for me

I moved in with my father to help him out a few years ago.. He smokes in the basement which is were the laundry machine is..it pisses me off. We fight all the time about it.. I'm like ok, I guess u don't care about your grankid. He has gotten better and smokes outside now since its summer but if it's raining he will smoke in basement.. My baby stuff is on 3rd floor but still pisses me off.. I used to smoke before pregnant and the smell pisses me off.

Not to mention it increases the risk of SIDS, RSV, and irritates colic. Not good for the mama either.

My grandmother does; she's the only person in our family who smokes besides my brother. She only does it at her house. She used to go outside when our son was really little, but eventually she started doing it in the house when we are there again. It's her house, so I can't really say anything; I'll just leave the room if I need to. My brother definitely doesn't smoke around me or our kids. I don't even have to ask; he knows how bad it can be for us.

I absolutely cannot stand cigarettes or cigarette smoke, unfortunately getting mad about it is about all you can do since it is not your house. Maybe let it give you extra incentive to get a place of your own! I went through this when I had my first, my parents tried to only smoke in their room but my son was a premie and I didn't even like that so I didn't stay with them for long!

I have all the incentive to move out. It's not about that it's about being able to afford our own place. My fiancé got laid off from work so we're stuck until he gets another job. That's why it's so frustrating because I have no other options right now. My situation is also different because my mom is disabled and doesn't pay her bills or house payment. My grandparents do. Even my grandma wants her to stop smoking in the house. She just won't listen to anyone. They're about to put new carpet in and my grandma said she's not allowed to smoke in the house after that so hopefully she'll listen then. This was just me needing to rant because it bugs me so much lol.
